I was Scammed out of hundreds of dollars for Website Promotion that never happened!!!

I received a phone call around mid-September 2008 from an individual addressing himself as a promotions specialist for ECOMMERCE WEB CONSULTANTS. His purpose (as he stated) was to market my website so that it will see more traffic from online shoppers.

Seeing that the caller was from Phoenix, Az and also knowing that my website host with a SIMILAR name is from the same area, I thought nothing of it and listened to what he had to say. He had my name, my website and phone number already and given this, I gave no further thought to his credibility.

I was talked into a marketing scheme where I was told that when people shop for various items from other websites, they will be directed to my site (which has similar items) thru their server.

In exchange for a guaranteed "X" number of weekly hits to my site for 1-year, and a Log-in portal to check the stats myself on their server, I was to pay almost $400.00. I conceeded to the barter and was grilled with the Credit Q&A then, it was done

Now this took place on Saturday, Sep 17 PM(EST) and AGAIN, I felt no ill-will or anything nefarious at that time. On the following day, (Sunday) I received NO email from them for the log-in and I started thinking about the exchange from the day-before asking myself; "Why did he need my credit-card Information when thay already have it on file?"

As it turns out, the company that called me, (who I thought was affiliated with my web-host) has no affiliation with the people I already deal with. This was learned when I tried calling-back the number on Monday. Tried all-day and no answer. Tried their toll-free number from their website (I googled it later as an after-thought) and still no answer. I called both numbers and emailed them for the next 3-weeks with no reply or answer.

It wasn't until I called them 2nd week of October from another phone when somebody finally picked up. A young woman answered with a "hello; who's this?" I went in to it with her and she got somebody on the line who called himself Aaron. I told him I HATE SCAMMERS and for him to refund what he bilked from me 3-weeks prior; or face a Judge!!!

He said something about signing a web-form to which I replied "SO-WHAT: That won't hold up in a FREDERAL court of LAW" "Refund What you TOOK FROM ME or face prosecution" He said there was no guarantees and there would be no refund. I told him that I did not receive the log-in I was promised, received no signifficant hits on my site, and saw no ip addresses associated with your server" He said nothing...

I made it simpler by being more direct: When I asked him what tangible evidence can they provide to me associating their server with the alleged hits they proclaimed to be sending to my site? He said he didn't have an answer, he would have someone he called Jason from Tech-support talk to me.

After several minutes go by, I was told he would call me back but this didn't happen so I called again the next day. This time, the same woman answers "Support" After telling her who I am and several more on her Q&A session, I was fast-loosing my patience and demanded to speak with someone in authority to authorize a refund; she responded with the Same thing; someone will call you back. Again, this didn't happen.

I have finally had enough of their avoidance Tactics and empty promises. This POST is Phase-1 of my campaign to recovery; phase-2 will include similar comtent with whatever Blogs and other sites I hit. Phase-3 may include FBI Involvement in some way; I know they host or are a part of a WIre-Fraud Reporting website.

Another clue I have; or evidence if you will, is the portal page I saved to my computer. the same one they emailed me for log-in. After looking at the code, it would appear that their STATS counter is based on SIMPLE-MATH designed to make it appear there is activity on my site from their server.

I can only say just how clever these rip-off artists are but not clever enough to get away with it. In retrospect, I have to wonder just how-many more people these thieves ripped-off and not aware of it due to their own wis-guided trust or lack of program-code savy...

I continue to monitor my site's stats and to this day, no hits from their server... No Surprise; no longer expect any.

To date, they keep BREAKING call-back promisses and show NO-SIGN of good-intent. ALL I WANT IS FOR THEM TO REPAY WHAT THEY BILKED FROM ME. If this happens, my injection into the net will stop here.

I am hoping I can receive great help here... I've done all I can up to this point, except legel avenues. I am hoping no further action will be required on my part and that this will help others.

PLEASE... AVOID ECOMMERCE WEBCONSULTANTS AT ALL COSTS... If you aren't savy-enough to understand Web-programming, you will never know you are being RIPPED-OFF!!! They could not provide any evidence to support their claim that traffic is directed to my website thru their server. They can't provide proof because they don't have it. I use the Statistics functions on my server and they do not include any information regarding these THIEVES. I copied the LOG-IN page (the same one they FINALLY emailed me.) as a text file to my computer using the "VIEW > SOURCE" menu in IE7. I will GLADLY send it to those who ask. After viewing the code, I was NOT-SURPRISED to see that it is little-more than a pre-programmed counter based on simple math designed to make you think that traffic is directed to your site thru their server but it isn't.
