Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

efree2net.com just may be the world's absolute worst hosting provider.

They didn't start out so bad when they first got going though, and I was their customer for over 15 years.  Originally, they tried and usually succeeded in helping me when needed (which was not all that often), and even though some things they never could make work right, at least they tried.  Some things were always less than optimal, like if one of their web servers locked up they wouldn't know about it, so only by my alerting them would they even notice (I had account space on four of their machines for different reasons).  Trouble tickets would sometimes take three or four days to get taken care of, and often they'd not even see them and would need reminding.  Maybe it's a cultural thing (they rent servers in the States but are based in Malaysia) but they were always short and curt in their replies and never once would tell me how any problem got fixed, no matter how many times I asked.  Not once did tech support ever sign their name either.  But they usually did get most problems fixed eventually so I always felt they were trying and meant well.  And they were cheap for the day, I paid $29/mo for their ColdFusion Reseller hosting.

The quality of their tech support declined over time though, until finally it got so awful I had to leave.  They wouldn't so much as respond to my requests for help, even when there were security issues on their own servers!  I'm guessing it's a small operation that's run by somebody with mental issues, probably either Nilson Sam or Jackson Lee whose names are listed occasionally as being associated with this hosting company.

When I went looking for a good hosting provider online I began by looking at reviews, and lo and behold I discovered that other people had similar bad experiences with this terrible hosting company:  Rude.  Incompetent.  Unprofessional.  Wouldn't answer help requests, and so forth, just as I experienced.  So it wasn't just me they had somehow become pissed at and decided to f*ck with, this is how they've been treating their own customers for a long time (some reports go back to 2006).  I just wonder how they've even managed to stay in business as long as they have.

One last thing: if you are dumb enough to try out this flaky hosting company even after being warned, you will find that occasionally your databases get their tables deleted, or sometimes just one or two tables will vanish and of course your website will be broken.  I always attributed this to some instability in SQL Server (some of their servers are still running SQL Server 7, they are not very good about keeping their software updated) and it usually happened with an older website that I didn't care much about anyway, but it was always perplexing.  Now I have come to believe that either this is how they keep their hard drives from filling up, or else hackers are getting into their poorly-protected servers.  Don't bother asking them, they are never going to tell you!
