Igot an email from Elance stating:
Our system routinely flags for review accounts associated with disputes, client concerns, poor feedback, or evidence of moving work off the platform. Unfortunately, a recent review of your account identified an unusually high number of these issues. As a result, your account has been closed.

I emailed them back:
I just received an email that my account has been closed, but no further information was provided...I don't understand, as far as I know I did not have any bad reviews, have not moved projects off the platform, the only projects that went badly was the elance bus project where i did not get paid for the work I did...Also if there were any complaints I should have been informed so I could fix them, not just deleted...

After reviewing your account I see that your work history indicates that you did not meet the performance standards expected on Elance and were removed from the platform. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. I appreciate your understanding in this matter.

I still don’t know what that means…as I have not had that many jobs on elance due to a back injury…I am just now getting into my freelance business more full time and was planning on using your site on a more frequent basis. I have never had complaints about my performance. Can you please explain further why you deleted my account. Thank you.

As the emails I received contradict one another I requested that they provide me with evidence as to the reason they deleted my account. They refused.
I was not extremely heartbroken over this because they allow scammers to offer jobs on their website...and was scammed many times. Including their own Elance bus group who never paid me. Additionally most of their "clients" are wanting their work done for nothing...it is an extremely difficult system to use as well. Especially since you can't tell the scammers from the honest jobs.

You’ve probably heard by now that Elance Inc and oDesk Corp are merging. I am concerned about what this merger will do to the staffing industry - a consumer complaint was filed because they will make up 90% of the global online staffing market if it goes through.
Monopolies result in market control, price fixing, and more. There is a reason why the government breaks up monopolies!
