Thank you for your concerns, your salesman came out and asked me what I wanted done. The installers have replaced the molding to match the floor and I'm very happy with the job.

I certainly hope it's not a laminet, I paid big bucks for the floors. The company was very eager to replace the molding to my satisfaction, and I'm quite happy now.

I assume your wood floor was a laminate. Leaving a gap between the wall and floor is required due to expansion of the flooring. This gap can be hidden in various ways including quarter round moulding. This is the fastest and most common method.
Removing the existing moulding and running the laminate under it is preferred by myself but is harder to do because the removal process can damage the walls and after re-installation the walls may require painting or touch up. If you don't specify in advance and put it in the contract you will get the quarter round. I know this is not what you want to hear but, it is a fact.
