I had worked for a company called EncoreNationwide for around 5 months, I liked and really enjoyed this company. It states in their policies that it is not against the rules to cancel a gig. I had a clean record working for a gig called Borghese who sold cosmetics for Costco. They told you upfront the rules and what was expecdted of you for that company.

I also did another gig for New Release which is also a contract for EncoreNationwide. No rules or guidelines to go by. They have a eplanner that you go into where they invite you to a job, you then click a button that says, accept, deny or undecided.

This is all on a first come first serve basis, sometimes other jobs come up and u have to take them because you don't know if they will accept u or not so of course you deny the offer. Sometimes they would confirm you for a job and then cancel the gig! This is not a big deal to them! Sometimes they will send you an offer that says to click a button to accept or call to cancel. This is before u have told them for sure that u absoulutly wanted the job. So you accept or call them.

I didn't have a problem with this company until I cancel a gig two times in a row due to person problems. Jobs like Costco (Borghese)always had proper back ups if you had to cancel. Obviously New realease did not! I had alot of jobs for them some i had to drive out of town. I got some job offers in e-planner and then they emailed me back on each one with a button to click for accept or call to cancel.

I never accepted these to begin with. In the mean time I got a new job and called/emailed the manger for this job and told her that I got a new job and could help with some of these but not all of them. She didn't get back to me soon enough because she was on vacation.

Well when she did get my message she told me she would find some one else but wanted me to do a couple of the other ones for her, i then told her i would email her some make-up dates, that very same day she emailed me back stating that she had found someone else. Which was fine i had never formally accepted these gigs. Well when i went to get into my e-planner to see when I had to do a couple of Costco jobs for Borghese in October. I found that i was locked out.

So I called the manager for that gig and she said that i had been taken out of their system completely because I cancel all these previous jobs with the New Release. I did cancel them like they told me to but never clicked or formally accepted these jobs! Also Encorenationwide cancelled 4 costco event on me for the month of October after they had formally given them to me.

They gave me two different stories, first it was we have to cut back on Fridays due to Costco wanting more days for other vedors due to the Holiday season, and then later another email stating that they had a problem with reduced sales at the cash register and had to cut back. I tried to emailed the manager of Borghese and I got an email back stating that she was out of town, then I emailed the President and got the same thing.

I have been a business owner for 20 yrs and you don't fire people without telling then your rules or giving them some kind of warning. This company has a real problem. I am doing this to let people know their unfair practices and maybe it will help someone along the way. It employs alot of younger kids and maybe they don't know how to fight back. I have worked in and out of Costco for many other vendors and have a good record , so they are only hurting themselves.

We promote products, not sell them. Also, we can't all have civil government jobs with benefits. How can you blame independent contractors when the company is at fault? That is messed up!

I am not surprised to see so many complaints regarding Encore Nationwide. There are valid reasons why they have been kicked out of the Better Bussiness Bereau in April 2012.

My girlfriend introduced me to the company and I worked several events for them. She received bogus excuses as to why the pay was being delayed. One of the reasons was that a person had not signed out on a timesheet, who was a no show to the event. It did not seem like a valid reason to delay twenty people's checks so my girlfriend called the client herself. It turns out that Encore is paid before the event and why they hold people's checks for over three months is beyond me. If you are interested in an Promotional Event Company, please book with one that is not fraudulent and actually pays the staff working the events in a timely fashion.

Thank You.

Wow! Okay Larry, slow down.  If you keep going back in forth with your rebuttals,  it's just going to make you look worse.

By accident, I came accross this RIP OFF REPORT site becuase I  met someone who was working for your company.  She was very happpy, however when I put your company name in "search", the first listing is the RIP OFF REPORT.

My guess would be that people are not going to take the time to write long winded complaints unless they have had a bad experience.

Maybe you should look at your in-house employees, have a meeting, or whatever they do in the corporate world.  Its obvious to me that you don't have happy employees.  I would think you need to make some internal drastic changes to impove customer service.

Reading all the comppaints..... well.... I don't think I'm going to sign up with your company. I'm glad they have YELP and RIP OFF.  We can get what we are getting ourselves into!

Good Luck!

I have been talent working with Encore for four years now. Reading these reports is upsetting. Honestly, if you don't understand what it means to be a 1099 employee or what it means to be a brand ambassador you don't deserve to have such a great opportunity. Encore has been giving me great opportunities for years; I've been proud to say that they give me the most work. I have continuously referred friends to them, and no one has had a complaint.

If you cancel, or aren't available for each date, of course you will be cancelled. Companies go to Encore for smart, fun, reliable staff. In a regular 9-5 job if you called and said, "Actually, I've had a change in my schedule, I can only work three days a week now." I can promise you, they'd find someone else. It's a hassle to re-train employees over and over again. If I were running a company I would want long term reliable employees as well.

Get over yourself. Clearly you aren't what the company needs in their database and they realized this. You're supposed to be talent, and if you can't present yourself professionally to the people handing out jobs, you don't deserve one.

Having been in this business for years I have had the displeasure of working with people who are only in it for the paycheck. I love what I do and cannot stand picking up the slack of people who are too lazy, or not dedicated enough to do a good job. Back-ups are for emergencies, meaning you broke your leg, your grandmother died, you have exorcist like regurgitation, not "personal problems". You can't expect a back-up to cover for your "personal  problems" when another person might actually have an emergency. If it really is dire, call someone else. If you're a nice person, you've met other brand ambassadors who would jump at a chance to work.

Mr. Hess, Thank you for the years of fun and opportunity. I've worked with a lot of other even staffing companies, and I can say that I trust Encore to let me know if there is a change in my schedule, that I will be paid on time, and that I will be given every opportunity to use my talent.

Thanks.

I always have a good experience with this company

I have worked with this company for the past 4 years and always have a good experience with the office staff in California.  It clearly states that we are independant contractors and not employees of the company, so you really cannot be fired.  People that I know who no longer are contracted by Encore, are almost always responisible for some kind of unprofessional action that caused them to be blacklisted.

Yea, it takes a little while to get payed, but at least there is a date listed on the website that tells you when you will receive your check.  That is alot better than other companies that don't even let you know when you will receive your money.  To call this company a scam is totally false.  They are industry standard, and one of the most reliable promo companies out there.  Maybe not the best pay, but I work for them because they get a lot of jobs!

Good luck everyone.

I worked for Encore just last week. It has not been long enough to know if there are payment issues so I can't comment on that. That is actually how I came across this forum, I was looking to see if anyone had reviews on the companies payment process. While this was the original reason I came across this report it is not the reason I was moved to write about my experience.

I signed up with Encore Nationwide and was sent an e-vite for a promotion in my area about a week later. I was excited because it was dates I expected to easily work. I had a free schedule and love doing promotions as a side job to make extra money in this tough economy.

As it turned out the weekend before the event was to be executed my family suffered a great loss. As it was an unexpected loss I was unsure of my new availability. My booking agent was understanding and helpful in accommodating my schedule. I feel horribly about my inability too be a reliable staff member for this event.

The point of this posting is to let people know while some may have bad experiences there are many others that do not. My booking agent was wonderful and the on site shift manager was great as well, both offering condolences. At a time when I was fearful of having to explain my situation to people that were depending on me and I thought would be angry with me an unexpected thing happened, these strangers offered condolences, apologies and prayers.

#8REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, April 16, 2010

Well good morning Jeff!

How are you?  I see you woke up angry this morning.

Cant trust me?  No integrity?  And a jerk?  Wow.  Have you ever met me in person?  Have we ever spoken?  Do you see me coming on here and randomly bashing people that I dont know?  BTW.I called my Mom this morning and she disagrees with you.

The truth is, you are more than welcome to your opinion.  I have no issue with that at all.

However, what you fail to see here is that what you and everyone else here is stating is your personal opinions.  NOT actual facts.  I have just as much a right to post as you do.  That is called freedom.

And how am I retaliating?  All I am doing is stating the facts and trying to help people.  So I called Linda out?  Is that my retaliation?  Hey.I asked her several times to call me, email me and I would be more than happy to walk her through the issues we had with her privately.  She never once looked at this as a possible learning situation.  She was blinded by her own arrogance that she could have never been at fault.  This is the biggest issue I see out there.  People cannot fathom that they have to take responsibility for their own actions or in-actions.  It is never their fault..there is always someone else to blame.  It is quite sad.

Here is my position on folks with a complaint about me, my internal staff or my company in general.  Are we right 100% of the time?  No, not by a long shot.  We are humanwe make mistakes.  We get frustrated, we get short with our database out there.  It happens.  But you also have to realize that we deal with thousands of people every day and the issues we deal with every day can be daunting.  No shows, excuses, people being late, theft, showing up but not working, people wearing the wrong attire, pictures.  So it works both ways.

My issue with boards like these are two-fold.

1.       If you have an issue and you come to me or anyone of my staff privately and let us know about it, I can easily look into the situation for you and fix it or let you know how you could have done things better.  That is a very mature way to handle a situation and one that actually produces results.  Plus, it is done privately.

2.       If you decide to come on here anonymously and post vague thoughts, rants, profanity and name calling....well that is very unproductive.  It doesnt allow me to look into the problem.  But heck, if you just want to rant away..and call me namesknock yourself out.  But dont get even more upset when I come on here to defend myself, my staff and my company.  You stated your opinion as a warning to folks..and I am stating the facts in response, so that people who read these boards can make an intelligent decision about Encore.  My hope is when they read some guy who sinks to a level of having to call me names and then they read my response which is just someone trying to get to the bottom of an issue..I would like to think they can see the truth.

And I am not discounting your feelings.  Maybe you really do feel like I am a jerk and lack integrity.  But why?  What did I do to you?  Give me facts.  Support your accusations.  Send me an email or call me.  Or post them here.  Maybe I can change your opinion and maybe I cannotbut at least it is more productive than slinging insults.

Bottom line, is I like the theory behind these boards.  It gives people an outlet to be heard.  But do it with grace and intelligence.  Dont sling insults.  It cheapens your stance.  Use it to get results.  If you have a legitimate gripe, I want to hear about it.  So I can make sure it does not happen again to anyone else.  We are always looking to improve our experience.

Good luck Jeff

Read about what others say about this man and he has no integrity and cannot be trusted and he is just a jerk! He digs a deeper hole for himself all the time! Me and my friends worked for this company and what this gal says is true! And to say that he knows her when she never said it was her! It could of been done by someone else! What a nutcase! This website is to express oneself anoyomously! Go through and look at his track record Go to complaints board and you will get pretty much the same complaint as this woman but by another past employee! He retailiates against others the same way he has here!  When we worked for this company we had an employee chat board and I always saw problems with people expressing the same frustrations!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY BAD NEWS ALL THE WAY!

#10REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, April 14, 2010

Wow.

So let me ask you a question.  Have you gone on Rip Off Report and filled out a report on every single company that you have ever applied to for a job but did not get an offer?  Or other staffing companies that sent you offers of work, but you did not get?  Or is it just our lucky day?

Listen, we send out job invites and sometimes it is only one slot.  So yes, it may fill up fast.  Or maybe you did not meet the qualifications of the job at hand?  We have never nor ever promise that you will receive work through our company.  We simply provide possible opportunities.  All for the cost of......NOTHING.

Plus, I bet if you were to send me a private email with all of your information..I could look up your profile and point out 5-10 common mistakes people make on their profile that limit their ability to obtain some work.  But instead of taking that proactive step, you chose just to join the ranks of anonymous posters who would rather just see their words on the world wide web as opposed to finding real solutions.

I cannot possibly fathom how me showing an interest in how my company is perceived and defending a company that I have worked 60+ hour weeks building for the past 12 years..shows a lack of integrity.  I offered Linda countless opportunities to take this off-line and talk to me or email me directly.  She never took that opportunity.  Yet, she still kept slinging insults, profanity and outright lies out into the public domainand I am the one that lacks integrity?  Please.  I am clearly missing something here.

This is a no win situation.  If I dont respond, then Encore is a cold hearted company that doesnt take the time to respond.  However, I do take the time to carefully respond and offer a solution, then I show no integrity.

Well..if you would like for me to look into your situation, you know the drill.  Send me your info.  If not, and you just want to continue your rant with no results..knock yourself out.  I think people capable of rational thought will see that I am trying to solve issues here and work with the disgruntled.  But in the end.you just cannot make everyone happy.

Good luck out there.whoever you are.

I did fill out a w-9 at one time as was looking for work at the time.

My one issue was that I would always receive an invite for my locale (Nashville-Metro) and instantly it was always booked no matter how fast I would respond/log in to confirm my invitation, or it would be previously canceled.

It was mind boggling & happened enough times that I had my name and information removed from their registry.

I am glad to see the Linda/Larry discussion posted.

It shows what (lack of) integrity the company has - to single a person out online, post their last name (obviously something the original poster did not want online), and "argue" back and forth.

It also re-affirms my decision to have my name removed from their roster.

Good morning Linda.

I guess you missed my sentence that said you could resist the urge to tell me that you didnt want to work through my company again.  Clearly that is your stance and we would NEVER reinstate you.  Your history as well as your inability to use this board effectively is proof positive that we made the right choice in parting ways.

We do not have any problems, other than a few people who think the world owes them something.

I am too busy as well, but never too busy to address the concerns that people have about my company.  I will always make the time to be available.

And just for the record and for everyone reading this rambling thread, I once again made several attempts to pull the facts from someone who had a grievance.  Each attempt was rebuffed and ignored.  Further proof that the majority of people just like to b***h and see their words on the internet.  They are not here for actual solutions.

Well Linda, this looks like our final goodbye.  I wish I could say that I will miss the give and takebut your ramblings about nothing and lack of any substance other than insults and profanity made this a waste of an exercise.

Hey Linda..

Great response.  Truly a great response.  You have me pinned to the mat here.

If I dont respond to these accusations then Encore is a big mean, cold hearted company that could care less about anyones experience.

But if I do take the time search the internet for feedback on my company and take the time to respond and try to work out solutions to peoples issuesthen I am full of hot air, taking too much time out of my day to defend myself, using fancy words, etc.  By the way, which word has you confused?

So by your logic (and by all means, feel free to clarify here).if anyone comes on here to air a gripe, if I take the time to look into their history or ask questions then I am automatically guilty of what that person is claiming.  Is that correct?  So the whole innocent until proven guilty theme is no longer valid in your mind.  And god forbid, someone has an alternative opinion to yours..then bam, they are guilty too.  Nice thing you have going over there in Colorado.  I just cannot imagine why we are no longer working with you.

It is a no win situation for me.

My guess here is that to win, I must cave into your demands, right?  Reinstate you?  Because you are one of the all time best promotional models ever to live, right?  You have done nothing wrong, ever.  I would be crazy not reinstate you and get you out there right away.  Is this what you are hoping for?  I mean, you came on these boards for a reason , right?  Surely, you did not come on here and waste your time just to b***h, did you?  That cant be right, can it?  Did you expect me to not look up your history?  To not state the facts in your case?  To not defend our actions?

BTW.you can save the ole..I would never work with you again, ever response that you want to queue up.  I get it.  We all do.

Let me ask you a question.  If I started a Linda Fick is a terrible promotional worker web-sitewould you be upset?  Or if I started a massive thread on message boards around the country that you are terrible and that you should not be used.  Or even worse yetsend an email out to all the staffing agencies in this industry letting them know that in my opinion you are a terrible person (which happens), would you want the chance to defend yourself?  And then if you did defend yourself..someone says to you.well if you have to defend yourself, then what they are saying must be true.  How would that make you feel?

Well, Linda FickI will always search the internet and watch the message boards to see what people are saying about Encore.  Why?  Because I want to know how people are feeling about my company, so I can make adjustments based on opinions that are out there.  We are always striving to make the Encore Experience a better one for both our clients and our staff.  I am one of the owners of this company and we built this company from the ground up with 4 thousand dollars between three of us and in a one bedroom apartment. So I will never stop looking through these boards and I will never stop taking time out of my day to respond to these posts.  Why?  Because besides my family, friends and my dog (Sierra)..my company and the perception out there is VERY important to me.

It is companies that do not take the time to respond that would worry me, If I were in your shoes.

I wish you the very best in your future endeavors Linda.  Dont feel sorry for me at all.  I am a very fortunate and lucky individual.

The truth

#17REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thu, March 25, 2010

Dear Linda (no last name)..although I have a real good idea who you are

I will answer these one at a time.

1.       Uh, people waste their time for all sorts of reasons.  Some of these claims may be partially true and embellished quite a bit.  Some of them are outright lies.  And some are just an opinion.  Some people are just impressed that they can see their name and writing on the world wide web!  Do you think tabloid stories are all true as well?  If so, I have this bridge I would like to sell ya.

2.       If you were a person of high integrity, you would post the facts.  Starting with your last name and not idle thoughts, ramblings, profanity, opinions and insults.  Post the real facts, give me names, dates, location and your issue.  That way, I can come on here and post the real, true history.  But my guess is that you will not dare do that.  It is far easier and safer to sit behind your desk and write in complete anonymity.  Quite honestly, I also do not like to be called a liar either nor do I enjoy fielding these type of false accusations.  Oh and one other point here..you may know some other Independent contractors..but not employees.  Big difference.

3.       Well, again.see number one.  People do all sorts of things for irrational reasons.  And again..peanuts and treatment are your opinion and not actually a fact.  What may in fact be peanuts to you..might actually be real and needed money to others.  And maybe you need to recognize your behavior in all of this.

4.       I think just the fact that I am on here..begging, asking for facts and taking the time to try and set the record straight shows that I do care about my company.  We are a very functional company with very good record keeping and thousands of people work with us and enjoy the experience.

5.       Where have I blamed others?  Launching insults such as suck, dysfunctional, crapdoes that make you feel better about yourself?  Do you see me launching insults?  Or using profanity?  No.  All I am doing is addressing the issues and trying to use this board effectively.  If you stay professional, then I assure you that you will be treated with respect.  However, I think it is clear from your wrath and chosen words..who the real professional is in this scenario and a clue as to why we parted ways and had no need for your services.

6.       Who is we all?  I have hundreds of happy clients and thousands of happy people working through us.  Like I said, in 12 yearsif it is just a couple of people with an axe to grind..and I have made the attempt to work with you on the issues and you will not cooperate, then you just will never be happy.  It is a no win situation for me.  While I am not happy that you are unsatisfied with your experience with me or my company, I am satisfied that I treated you with respect and tried to work with you for a resolution.

7.       I dont cook my own goose.  I prefer my wifes Italian chicken dish!  It is awesome and healthy (so she says).  She adds a side of these cubed sweet potatoesthat are out of this world good.  Come on over for dinner one night.

And finally, Linda (Fick)I have looked at your profile and I have read all of the notes (extensive, detailed notes), I have even read your tirades on the many emails that you sent to my staff.  So if this is in fact you.I think maybe it is time to let this go.  For starters, this was OVER 2 years ago.  Secondly, you were in the wrong and we tried hard to give you a solution but you refused every option we threw at you.  Unfortunately, I think you are just one of those folks who love to be mad at the world and blame others for their actions or in-actions.  As my Dad always says.Linda, it is time to build a bridge and get over it.

If you would like for me to go into further detail of your history.let me know.  I will gladly do so.

Dear Larry Hess,

You are most definitly in denial:

1- If these reports were not true, why would people waste their time?

2. I am a woman of high integrity and I do not appreciate being called a liar, especially after the abuse of your company. I knew many employees that had the same problems that never posted on here.

3- What would people have to gain to put bogus complaints on a website for a company that pays people peanuts and treats them like crap! It is certainly not money!

4- You need to stop being in a fog of denial and be a man and step up to the plate and take responsibility for your disfunctional company.

5- Blaming your problems on others and trying to discount what your company has done is a reflection of your charector and proves even more how badly your company sucks!

6- We all know the truth whether it be on here or not, your company has a bad reputation already. Write all the blah blah you want.....

7- Hopefully you have cooked your own goose and more people will come out of the woodwork!

#19REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, March 24, 2010

Hello people of the R.O.R

First let me state that I truly believe that this site is bogus.  If you do your homework, you will see many lawsuits and actions against this site for the very reasons that I am about to bring up.  For starters, this site really wants to be an on-line forum that allows people to air grievances.  Almost like a BBB site.  It even looks legitimate.  However, what you will quickly realize is that they do not offer to investigate to see if any of these claims are legitimate or not.  So in essence this site is just a regular ole discussion board.  So anyone with a computer and access to the internet can come on here and post a gripe.  It doesnt have to be true and it can just be all made up nonsense.  At least reputable web-sites that are in this space will take the time to review the case to see if it has any merit.  The other thing is this non-sense policy of never taking down a post.  While, I understand the thought process behind this decision (so consumers can see the whole trail)if the post is completely false, or just a mistake or rectified and it is proven so..the site will still not take the post down.  That seems ludicrous to me, given what type of site they are striving to maintain.  I could easily put up a site called promo-staff that are unreliable and start putting up names and numbers (regardless of the truth) with the same policy.  However, that hardly seems to be a good use of anyones time.  Especially if it is not based on facts, such as this site.  This site should be renamed to Rumor of the day.

Now to the task at hand, addressing these posts.  Here is my laundry list of issues with these posts.

1.       There is no real information here.  No names, no identities, no dates, no name of the promotions worked..in other words..NO FACTS.  So it is hard for me to come on here and defend our actions, if I do not know who you are.  The fact that people posting here can be anonymous, makes it all the more frustrating.  My guess though, is you would rather not post your name, because if you do..I will then be able to pull your history and expose more of the truth behind your story than what you have posted.  Which for some of you, would be VERY embarrassing.  You would rather gripe, then fix the issue.  Well.have at it.gripe away.  Let me know when you would like to really sit down and fix the issue as opposed to just whining away on some random message board how you were singled out by Encore.  We do not hide, I do not hide..send me an email with your name and [email protected]

2.       We have been in business for over 12 years now.  We have thousands of people working through us on a weekly basis and have been doing so for the past 12 years.  Do you think it is possible to make everyone happy?  Lord knows we trybut in the end, someone will always believe they are right no matter what we say or do.

3.       Sometimes we are not the decision makers.  We serve our clients.  In some cases, our clients are pulling the strings on who to use and who not to use.  Lets face factsnot everyone works for every position.

4.       Another fact to face, especially in these times, is we have plenty of people who want to work.  If you mess up, show up late, dont show up at all.then guess what folks?  We have a replacement that is begging us for work and your position.  While you may think you have a legitimate excuse, we are still responsible for getting someone out there to replace you.  In the clients eyes..the show MUST go onwith or without you.

5.       With thousands of people working for us on a weekly basis, you can imagine the excuses we hear every day.  My car broke down, I couldnt find parking, my dog died, I didnt know I was booked, I was sick, my children were sick, etcwe have heard it all, trust me.  It is hard to determine anymore who is truly telling the truth these days.  Listen, we understand that things come up..all we ask is to know as far in advance as possible.  When you just do not show upwell, we have no use for you at that point.  Harsh?  Maybe.  But true.  We still have a responsibility to our client to make sure the event continues.

6.       The other thing to consider is this is a just gripe board.  And after 12 years of being in business, if these few posts represent the only issues that people want to write about..then I am ok with it to be honest.  While we strive for the best possible experience for our clients AND our staff..like I said, you cannot make everyone happy all the time.  What you do not see is the thousands of thank you notes, emails, cards, candy that we receive every day (from both staff and clients)..that thank us for providing work opportunities.  You also do not see what we do to thank our hard working staff each week.

7.       And here is another issue of mine, correcting grammar.  Listen, I think writing to the best of your ability is really important.  It shows you care and that you are intelligent enough that your post should be thoughtfully considered.  However, coming on here just to correct spelling and grammar?  Really?  Who declared you the professor of the boards?  I think you have too much time on your hands.

8.       Finally..what is really infuriating is seeing people speaking about things you truly do not know about.  Holding onto money in an interest bearing account.while we wait to pay you? FALSE.  We constantly hire new bookers?  FALSE.  The CEO called me crazy.  False.  What this does is completely undermine your post.  If you have a legitimate issue, but you speak to something that you have no facts to back it up..then I am automatically skeptical.  Stick with just the facts surrounding your issue.

9.       And just because you do not like my response, that doesnt make you right.  People will email me with an issue and I look up the history and let them know why we did something and there are always a few people who just go off on a tangent and get bent because they do not like our response (right or wrong).  Well here is a news flash for yougo start your own company if you are never going to like anyone elses opinion other than your own.

10.   Finally..I love the notion that we single people out just to make their lives miserable.  Yep, every Friday we spin a wheel and see who the unlucky person of the week is going to be and we cancel all of their events and black list them.  Dont you think we would rather you just show up, work hard and do a good job?  We offer opportunities..it is up to YOU, on what you do with those opportunities.

Well, if you know anything about me or my stance on these message board gripes.you know this is your decision time.  Either spend the rest of your life blaming others for your issues and spend your time griping on a message boards or take matters into your own hands.  If you would like for me to look into your scenario (either publicly or privately) send me all of your information.  Full name, dates worked, issue and I will send you the history (the true history).

No one owes you anything.  The faster you come to that realization, the better off you will be in this world.  You are responsible for both your actions and in-actions..no one else.

Dear Hopeful future employee of Encore,

First and foremost, prior to giving lessons in spelling and grammar, please consider your own poor writing style and lack of understanding of proper English.

Let us place you under the microscope. Here is what you wrote:

".....Either that or one that still has the maturity of a 15 year old. It's irritating, it makes you look stupid, and therefor most certainly wont help you convince anyone intelligent that what you argue is in fact true....."

Now, a few quick lessons:

1. When referring to people, you should use WHO, not THAT, stupid! ("Either that or one WHO still has the maturity of a 15 year old...."). THAT is for things!

2. The word WONT in this particular sentence is misused. What, spellcheck didn't catch that one, did it? That's because, little do you know, WONT is actually a word meaning "accustomed." You want to use WON'T, meaning "will not."

3. THEREFOR? Unbelievable....again, take a dictionary and find out the meaning of THEREFOR vs. THEREFORE! In your particular case, you'd like to use THEREFORE to state your conclusion.

Now, I am not an English teacher, nor do I have a degree in anything close to writing. I wasn't even born in US, but I take the time to write and speak correctly. Most of all, I don't run my mouth when I can end up looking stupid! I'm only writing this, because it upsets me to have people like you try to embarrass others.

Come to think of it, you're probably one of Encore's in-house employees.

The fact of the matter is, you should take notice of all the rest of the posts stating that this company is ruthless in their treatment of staff.

Go ahead, give them a chance, a person like you--one who thinks he/she knows all, but in truth, is simply delusional--will probably fit right in with the rest of them.

I used to work for Encore and had similar experiences to the others.  I decided that Encore is below me (their treatment of staff and their pay rates) and a complete waste of my time. Now I work with a number of other marketing/staffing agencies that treat me with respect and appreciate the hard work I put into every event.

Okay, after having read the original report and the reply from the owner of the company, i think I've come to the conclusion that you, miss, are an idiot.

You obviously do not understand the concept behind being an independent contractor, nor do you know how to type properly. After the second 'u' I just couldn't bear to read any further. It hurt my brain. Using the letter U to say 'you' is not only unprofessional, but also an indicator that  you're probably 15. Either that or one that still has the maturity of a 15 year old. It's irritating, it makes you look stupid, and therefor most certainly wont help you convince anyone intelligent that what you argue is in fact true.

Oh no. The big bad company wants you to work when they need you, and they don't want you to work when they don't need you. How evil.

I'm going to give this company a shot. I'll let you know how my experience was.

They did the same thing with me, I worked at Costco for Borghese, and just because I couldn't make it to one promo, they automatically canceled my account. I didn't even know about it until I tried to log in to my e-planner and it didn't let me access. They didn't even call me or anything like that. I had to call them to see what was going on. I'm just hoping they send me my 3 paychecks on time. I'm suppossed to get them by 06/26 and 06/27. We'll see!!

#25UPDATE EX-employee responds

I also worked for Encore for about 2 years. They constantly hired new booking agents. They were always begging me to work the Borghese event, so I KNOW I was one of only a few people that was even signed up with this company in my area. They sent you an email every month or so saying what dates are available, first come first service kind of thing. Come November, there was a new booking agent, I replied with all the days except the day after Thanksgiving, because I was going out of town, and could not work the day after. I worked EVERY weekend prior to that for over a year, without ever calling in, etc. I was NOT scheduled for this day, but because I was not able to work 1 out of 10 days, she didn't book me for any. Instead, they split it up between two other girls (my friends that I had sign up I might add) stating that the client wants someone who can work more. No offense to my friends, BUT they were not available every day, not even every day except one. Which was my availability. It really made no sense, but there wasn't anything I could so. So I was out of the job for the next 10 weeks or so. So the next time the email came around with the available dates...I didn't get it! My friend had asked if I was going to work all the dates again, and I told her I didn't get the email. So I sent a friendly email to the Booking agent (Caleigh) to see if there was any left, and her response was that due to my "attendence issues" I was taken off the Borghese event. What!? I told them I couldn't work ONE day out the entire YEAR (a day that I might add I was NOT confirmed for so it was NOT a cancellation). I had no idea they even took me off! So I tried to login to Encore to see if I had any other offers...and I was REMOVED from their website!! I tried to call about it, and I actually ended up talking to Laura Hall at Borghese about this, but she said, in not so many words, that Encore had told her I was not dependable and that I was not welcome to work with them anymore. To me, that's fired. I was extremely hurt by this. Why, because I wanted ONE day off? My friends stopped working for Encore as well due to this issue, and issues they started having with the Booking agents as well. I will tell you Encore really hurt themselves in this deal, I was a very hard working, loyal employee. I used Borghese, so I would go to Costco and see the new girls, none of them seems interested in working at all. I guess they would rather have someone there 365 days of the year that doesn't put any effort into it, then someone who puts 150% in, but only 364 days. I eventually stopped buying the product as well all as a direct result of the way Encore Nationwide and their staff treated me.

#26UPDATE Employee

Fri, November 14, 2008

I worked as a field manager for a 3 month program. They state that you should receive pay within 6-8 weeks, usually pay is send out at exactly 8 weeks, reason being that they hold YOUR money in an interest bearing account and make money off of your money, which is their own business I suppose but it is seems unfair that one should have to wait 8 weeks. In my situation it has been 8 weeks and 10 days since an event I worked, and I still have yet to see my check. When I call or email to find out where it is they make me feel stupid and degraded, like "dont you know it takes 8 weeks and it was sent sometime between this day and this day, but we cant tell you the exact day, you should know this by now ect..." problem is mail doesnt take 10 days and they dont track their mail so if they say it is lost in the mail..too bad wait another month. if you depend on your pay for bills dont depend on this company and good luck finding someone who is willing to help you.

#27UPDATE EX-employee responds

Fri, August 22, 2008

I unfortunately had BIG problems with this company as well. I worked for them with Borghese products for months and had a missed payment. After about a month of no payment I requested some info and got a runaround of emails---alas, with no payment. I sent in a 3rd email with a lawyer contact and that was when the CEO contacted me with a very aggressive email. He called me "crazy" and "good riddance" to workers like me and said that he gets emails like mine numerous times threatening with lawyers and that they were no use. I guess this happens often. I responded with my cell number and said a phone call may be better so that we could have a live conversation rather than runaround emails with mean stabs leading to further miscommunication. There was finally an investigation made on my paycheck and supposedly was was lost in the mail--unfortunately it took a month and runaround emails (as well as that disturbing one) to figure this out??? I was very surprised with the way this was handled and never been treated like this before so I was very upset and hurt by the manner of how they treat their workers. Eventually my check was mailed about 1.5 months later.

Yes, I have since been talking with other people who have had the same problems with this company!Alot of them have had to resort to changing their emails and pictures just to get back on with them, which I refuse to do they are not worth it! They do What ever they want to u but when you make a mistake or have a hard time they get rid of you and make it to look like it is your fault! Yes they may not fire you , but they just take you out of their e-planner which is the same thing! Yes, I did say that things had been resolved but they have not! They put me back into the e-planner after firing me and then I couldn't get another job with them everytime I would sign up for something they would screw me around all the more. I think that some of these woman need to get a life and grow up! They make mistakes and blame everything on us to cover their mistakes up! Beware unless you are a suck-up and can get through their politics!

Hello.... First let me state that this person has stated that we fixed the issue and requested that this post or report be taken down off of this board. Yet it still remains posted....why? Second, we are a talent agency and the people that work through us are considered independant contractors. Therefore, we do not hire NOR fire anyone. This person was neither hired nor fired. We used her services several times. However, when she canceled some dates on us, it was our responisbility to our client to find someone who would not cancel out of working an assignment. We have thousands of people that want to work events and it is not fair to use people who consistently cancel, when there are many people who would be happy to work without canceling. This report has no merit to it. Please feel free to contact me at anytime for further information. Larry Hess President Encore Nationwide. [email protected]

I read your complaint with interest and began thinking to myself how I used to work for these sales companies many years ago, like the one you told of. The concern is, as long as you continue to seek out these low-paying empty promises sales jobs, (because let's face it, that's all they are, is just sales jobs) then be expected to face disappointment and an empty wallet. Your best bet is to get into a civil service government job and get yourself better benefits where you won't have to work these jobs with menial service and no job security. Stanley, Weslaco, Texas.
