Sam Jacobs from Equiplus Lending Group contacted me about a personal loan that I applied for online and said that they could approve me for a $20,000 loan by one of their personal lenders. All that they requested was 8 monthly payments upfront to secure the loan and that would go towards my principal and come off the balance of my loan. As soon as they receive the funds, the money would be deposited into my account within one business day.

After the papers were faxed to me and I signed them and faxed them back, I had 14 days to come up with the requested security deposit. They requested that I send a money gram to the lenders agent Michelle Becker in Halifax, Canada. The following day after the money gram had been sent, I received a call from a David Gill stating that there was a problem with the loan and that the lender was requesting an additional 8 payments upfront because of my credit. After a few days, I could only locate $1000. and told them that was all that I had. David Gill then informed me that he spoke with the lender and that they would except the thousand along with a credit from Equiplus for the remainder.

The following day, David called again and said that the lenders insurance company would not secure the loan because the credit of the remaining balance was not directly from me and that I needed to come up with the remaining $1330.00, which I did after a long argument on the phone with him telling him that he said there would be no more problems after the last one. The money was then suppose to be deposited into my account and he even faxed me a confirmation letter from Paul T. Baker, the CEO of Equiplus stating that the money would be there within 24 hours.

On Monday morning when I tried to contact Equiplus about my loan, the answering service at the number provided was not working and the website was suspended. No money in my account and no way to contact them.

No reputable lender asks for money up front for a personal loan. Did you not know that ? You received exactly what you deserved - NOTHING.
