First of all, the person in Hawaii refers to the fact we fedexed her check. That means we paid her for work done. Secondly, instead of posting an inaccurate and slanderous statement- contact us.
Thirdly,we were fedexing her checks since, she had moved and they were coming back to us. It is quite expensive to fedex to Hawaii and we did as a courtesy. Fourthly, the payrolls forms submitted for employment were a W-4. If this person did not want to work as a legal employee than they should have declined the work. The legal definition for taxes of an independent contractor is that they must own their own business and business license and work indepedently. The job cannot be done by an independent contractor because they take direction from a third party and are not paid through a business name. All information relating to legally working as a independent contractor can be seen on irs.gov. Sadly, none of these complaints were ever made to us via phone or email. They are both incorrect and slanderous. If you don't want taxes taken out then don't fill out a W-4 and become and employee. In addition , the IRS is coming down heavily on unreported 1099 income.
