Simon, are there physical characteristics that show the difference between the two? It sounds like you did your research and would be able to tell the difference. Not that it's an excuse, but it's possible that the salesperson didn't know the difference either. Since everyone tries to buy a car at cost(I still invite any other business to run at the profit scale consumers think we should), the salespeoples commissions went down. The good salespeople aren't really trying to take that kind of paycut, and you are left hiring whoever you can. I'd look at the upper left corner of the buyers order. That's where it would state what model they put on the paperwork if they loaded that info into the system. Good luck.

It sounds like this vehicle was purchased as a used car. More than likely all the paperwork will simply list it as a 'Stratus' and not delineate if it's an ES, SE, or base model. If indeed it is listed as a specific model, though, this could be a case of fraud. Best of luck!

Look at your paperwork from the dealer. If it says it's an ES, then it is a clear case of fraud. Sue them in small claims court for the difference. BTW, doesn't it say on the car if it's and ES or not?
