Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I did not know this service existed until now but I think that the public needs to be told of the experience I had with this Company. This matter started back in June of 2003 when i inadvertently damaged several DVD discs in a large capacity DVD player. I contacted an individual named Ervin Raab who advertised a disc repair Company under the name of Invention Z in June of 2003 and asked for an estimate on repairs to about 120 discs. He responded and I was not able to send the discs off until early in September of 03. I still had not received any confirmation that he had received them so i sent an e-mail off and Mr. Raab responded on 9/26/03: Peter,

We did get your discs, and they will be done

next week.

I'll keep you posted when they are done.

Kind Regards,

Ervin

I still heard nothing back from Mr. Raab a month after this message despite the fact that I sent him several e-mails. The number he supplied just rang and rang steadily for a couple of days so I figured I would begin to keep a written record by storing my e-mails. Mr. Raab finally responded in November after I contacted the local law enforcement office in his city and they in turn e-mailed him about the repair order and this was his response on 11/06/03:

Hello Pete,

Sorry, but my computer has been screwed up

for several days, and I also was awaiting software to

do some random checking of the discs instead of

actually playing some of them.

How did we want to take care of the shipping cost,

which is around $35-40 dollars? Should I send the

discs COD for the amount of shipping to you? Please

advise.

Kind Regards,

Ervin.

This matter continued for another three weeks after I had to contact several other agencies to track Mr. Raab down. On Friday 11/21/03 I received this message after asking him a number of times for tracking number on the return shipment:

Hello Peter,

Your UPS tracking number is:

1Z 911 X25 03 3923 4650

I did notice sonething unusual about your discs; the

damage on them seem to come from the Laser head

bouncing on the disc. You may want to avoid pausing

the disc at a certain point for a long period of

time(this is what I think did the damage to the discs)

Kind regards,

Ervin.

I received the shipment late in Movember minus 5 discs, the box was in fairly good shape but many of the boxes containing the discs were marred and most were covered in dust. When I inspected the discs very little by way of "repairs " were effected and many had the same scratches on them that were supposed to have been polished off.To this day I have nver received the 5 discs that Mr. raab stated were supposed to have been shipped separately

Yes, we had a time delay in returning the discs to the customer, and that was our mistake. However, on the 5 discs in question, they were sent via USPS(and apparently never got to Peter's address). I then asked Peter to check with his local Post Office(because packages are sometimes damaged/jacked-up), and are in limbo. I never got a response again from him. I cannot be responsible for the failing of the PO to deliver a package that was lost/etc. Foil damage at the TOP of the disc is a damage NO machine in the world can fix. This is why some discs appear to be unfixed. I explained this to no avail.
