Excaliber Polishing and Plating is a chrome plating service company located in Fullerton, California, providing chrome plating service for automotive and other parts.

My complaint relates to failed chrome plating work with regard to parts sent by me to Excaliber.  The parts were chromed at a cost to me of $280 plus $40 for shipping, total cost $320. The parts were eventually returned to me by Excaliber and were several months in storage; then subsequently installed on the restored vehicle.

Upon use, the Excaliber chrome promptly flaked, bubbled, and fell off one part, causing serious environmental hazards as well as a failed appearance.  On September 1st 2017 I emailed Martin Alderette at Excaliber to notify him about the defective work, and received the following response about re-chrome:  "Yes please send the defective pipe back with a copy of the invoice. We can take care of the re-chrome.  Miles, Excaliber" (Copy of invoice and email upon request)

Subsequent to another $40 shipping expense (to send back the failed work - total loss now $360) began a long waiting period, in excess of one month.  Excaliber finally responded that they refused to re-chrome the part and Alderette would not honor his assurance to rectify the issue, as in writing above. On October 12th, 2017 Excaliber stated that they had "stopped process" and will send the part back as-is.

I phoned Excaliber and asked them to try chroming again if more time was needed, to remedy the issue. Alderette responded that he just would not honor his word in writing and verbally to re-chrome the part. Upon receipt of the returned part, it was damaged / dented by Excaliber and is no longer serviceable (not dented when sent to Excaliber).

Excaliber thus acted deceptively / dishonestly about making the chrome job good, and has cost me $360 in failed chrome work, on a part that is not serviceable, and that Excaliber damaged. Alderette refused to adhere to his statement on making good, and damaged the part.
