Excel Shades
Ajax,#2REBUTTAL Individual responds
Thu, September 29, 2011
It is disappointing that in life there are those individuals who possess dishonest business practices and vengeful ways all driven by money. Whether it is due to a regretful purchase or overspending of money, the true character is revealed through unfortunate incidents as the one below.
Although after 20 years of business, this incident is the first of its nature and the extent of the malice intended is shocking to many. In todays day and age, through the wide use of the internet there are the rare incidents where an individual will fabricate details all in pursuit to damage ones hard earned reputation for the purpose of receiving a discount or to cheat a business of money owing.
On July 27, 2011 a contract was made with Diana Peruzzi in the amount of $2,400. The order consisted of 4 Hunter Douglas shades and custom sheer drapery. A deposit of $1,200 was given. Two weeks later, on August 10, 2011 an installation date was booked and a window of 4 hours was given to Diana Peruzzi as this is our policy when booking installations. (Since we can only estimate previous lengths of installs on the same day or other variables such as traffic.)
Diana Peruzzi was made aware of the delayed time.
Two installers arrived and were let in by security. As normal practice they always remove their shoes before stepping foot into any residence to work. Drop sheets are laid out before any install which is regular practice. The install was completed. Typically the homeowner is present to provide a broom or vacuum to clean residue caused from drilling a few holes and some pins from the drapery. As the 500 sq ft condo was empty, they cleaned with the little tool they had. Everything looked great and never was there any mud or dirt covering the floor. It was a nice summer day and it was absurd that the installers would have created a mess as described by Diana Peruzzi.
The next day we received a call from Diana Peruzzi indicating that her sheers were not operating smoothly and reported a mess made, drapes soiled etc. Since this seemed impossible, my initial reaction was if there was a possibility that someone had access to Diana Peruzzis unit after our staff had left. Details were fabricated, extremely exaggerated and unimaginable to believe. Needless to say, a time was arranged to resolve the issues. Immediately we realized that the incorrect tracks were supplied by the company not allowing the smooth operation. At this point Diana Peruzzi took the opportunity to make additional requests for changes that were not part of the contract. We agreed to satisfy her requests to 1. To remake sheers and create a centre split atno charge. 2. To add an additional 4 batons to operate the sheers at no charge.
A smaller window that was completed to her satisfaction was excluded from any remakes or adjustments. Diana Peruzzi confirmed it was fine.
Within 2 weeks, another install was booked to bring order to completion. At this meeting Diana Peruzzi attempted to negotiate a side cash payment for the cost of the new tracks with our installer as a plan to evade paying Excel Shades the remaining $1,200 balance. The installer clarified for Diana Peruzzi that he is employed by the company and would never consider engaging in a dishonest plan and lose his job.
The installer immediately reported the incident and Diana Peruzzi was confronted. Diana Peruzzi was made aware that due to her dishonest business practices, in order for the remaining part of the order to be completed we would require the balance of $1,200 paid up front.
At this point, Diana Peruzzi became furious and denied the allegation. From that moment onward it was very evident that Diana Peruzzi made every attempt to create and exaggerate issues... all in attempts to evade paying the remaining balance. Diana Peruzzi continued her harassment as a form of vengeance since she was prevented the opportunity to cheat our company. As stated, it was in the month of July and it was impossible for our installers to roll the sheers in the mud or better yet as Diana Peruzzi claims... create a disastrous mess in her place. Nothing Diana Peruzzi alleged made any rational sense. We unfortunately are unable to allow the company to be cheated a significant amount of money as every attempt was made to bring the order to completion to the customers satisfaction. Diana Peruzzi has $1,300 worth of shades for the $1,200 deposit we received. Diana Peruzzi is ahead by $100, and we are now left with custom size drapery that are of no use to us. Not to mention the destruction caused by her deliberate actions to slander our business and personal name. We are in the process of pursuing legal action to keep Diana Peruzzi accountable for her fabrication of details, slanderous ways and defamation of our character.
In reading reviews made by a vengeful client that made every attempt to evade paying her balance, please consider that as helpful as business reviews can be, there are always individuals who participate in dishonest practices in hopes to obtain a reduced price, products for free or compensation as an additional discount. In some cases, regretful of overspending habits, they will stop at nothing by fabricating issues in order to receive compensation. We as a company are committed to take every measure to rectify orders as they are custom in nature and at times can require adjustments to be made to achieve the desired finished look. We will take a loss by making numerous trips as required to the clients home, but due to the nature of our business, we do not offer credits or refunds. This clearly makes certain clients furious who are accustomed to the method of receiving compensation or discounts depending on the degree of the harassment made to large outlets. Driven by their determination to receive compensation they will fabricate, create or
microscope every detail in hopes of not paying. This consumer practice may be accepted with depot outlets who are typically an additional 30-40% higher in price. Instead, we pride ourselves as a business, not only being very competitive in price but also will make every effort to rectify all issues regardless of losses incurred for travel or install fees. Unlike readymade items, delays are very normal with any custom made products.
