Expressflash.com Ripoff, Website shutdown, No replies to contacting Birmingham Alabama
Expressflash.com offer(ed) many products ranging from cell phones to laptops for just $29.99 + 5.01 shipping (therefor being $35 total). The price however was not for the cell phone itself, instead it was for a CD-Rom with ringtones and other phone related items.
Along with this CD-Rom you were placed onto the list of your choice and escalated upwards with the more purchases of the CD-Roms the company sold for that particular list. As more were sold, the higher you got on the list.
For my particular list, it required about 23 people the purchase the CD-Rom before one person recieved a phone. Every person who recieved a phone got bumped OFF the list, and someone moved up waiting for 23 more people to purchase the CD-Rom.
I purchased the CD-Rom on Mar. 7, 2005. I had been checking up on the list for a while, but it was going so slow -- Which then I thought that I would never recieve the phone! My thoughts were "pyramid scheme!" -- of course. So, I was trying to be patient, and just tried the website again after several months, todays date is Oct. 5, 2005, and find out that the website is no longer available.
The resolution that I seek would be at least to get my $35 back, and I have the records to prove I paid it. I don't even care about the CD-Rom. If the phone could be recovered, that'd be awsome as well. Either way.
Also, this report will hopefully serve as a warning to others about similar website proclaiming the same reward (of a phone/laptop/etc).
