Student Financial Aid Services, Inc. (fafsa.com) isn't misleading - it's homepage clearly states in large letters that it is a fee-based service. The federal government via the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 offers students 2 options for preparing a federal student aid application (FAFSA) - either do it themselves on the US Dept of Education's website OR get help from a professional, fee-based FAFSA preparation service.
Google pushes ads to the top of search results so that's the reason Student Financial Aid Services' ad shows up early in search results. The government's website ends in .gov and our service ends in .com. Links to the government are noted in several places on the fafsa.com homepage and more than 40 other places on the website.
The website FAFSA.com has been serving students for 20 years and gets very high ratings from its clients. (98% recommend the company to others). The company earned an A+ from the Better Business Bureau.
The review period is typically 24 hours. Fees are $79.99 or $99.99 and are prominently displayed on the homepage.
Just like preparing income taxes, some people have neither the time, interest or knowledge to quickly and accurately prepare their FAFSA and prefer the peace of mind of knowing a professional prepared it correctly. Accuracy assures a student's FAFSA will not be rejected and booted out of the virtual aid line for an error. Given most aid is first-come, first-served, it's important to be accurate and fast.
Student Financial Aid Services has a refund policy and if you input your personal info and don't want to continue using the service, the company will remove your information from its database.
The company doesn't sell students' information to colleges or others like so many other college planning and scholarship websites. Nor does it accept ads.
