We are insured by Farmers Insurance Corp. We made a change in our deductible which resulted in a credit to our account. Instead of giving us a refund check they extended the period of our coverage for almost a month. A copy of this change was sent to Fairbanks Capital Corp.

Fairbanks sent us notification that we were not insured and told us to call an 800 number that they provided. There was nobody there to talk to. We left a message with our policy information. A couple of weeks later we got a 2nd notification that we were going to have insurance force-placed on our account if we did not provide proof of coverage and requested that we call the same 800 number.

We contacted our Farmers agent. They couldn't believe what was going on so they sent another copy of our declarations page to Fairbanks and attempted to call them on the 800 number. They ran into the same situation we did. We can't convince Fairbanks that we have had continuous coverage. They forced a policy on us for the 28 days or so that they claim we were not covered and have charged us about $200 for that policy. They have increased our Mortgage payments by nearly $20/month. We continued to make the regular mortgage payment, because they are in error, now they are reporting us delinquent in our payments!!!

Instead of dealing with them, have your original lender contact them.

Who was the original lender? I had the same thing happen, but resolved it within a matter of 2 days. Our refinance closed and was immediately transfered to Fairbanks for servicing. Within days we received the same letter stating we had no homeowner's insurance. Instead of dealing with them, have your original lender contact them. Hopefully you worked with as good of a company as we did and they will resolve it the same day for you :) See, nice and easy!
