Let me first begin by telling you that our mortgage is always directly withdrawn on the same day of every month and has NEVER been late.

We were already in the process of refinancing when Fairbanks bought our mortgage. Our mortgage broker requested several different payoffs, as they change more or less daily. Every single payoff cost us $60 EACH! Of course, no one from Fairbanks conveyed that to us or our mortgage broker.

Then, once we closed on our refi and the check sent to Fairbanks, it took Fairbanks over a month to apply the payoff and even had the audacity to continue to take automatic withdrawls for a loan that was already paid off (they did this TWICE). Watch this scam! They want a request from you in writing to stop them from taking automatic payments on a loan that's already been paid off.

The best way I found to deal with them was to send faxes to them, so they had my PROMISES in WRITING!

This loan has been paid off officially since Oct 21 and unofficially since Sept 20. I have a refund check that was supposed to be in my hands before Nov 21. Of course, it's STILL not here and I'm getting the COMPLETE run around from Fairbanks. First, they told me it would be mailed on the 15th of Nov, then the 20th and now, on 12/2/02 they told me it was mailed on Nov 25.

It doesn't take a week to get mail from Salt Lake City to Denver. Also, on Monday, when I contacted them, I requested a supervisor call. Of course, no supervisor has called yet. So, I started calling today and CONVENIENTLY when you call their customer service line and start going through all the automated BS to talk to a LIVE PERSON, it hangs up on you.

So, I got on line and found this site and one of the reports had listed Fairbanks Capital's consumer affairs dept phone (904-722-7691). After having them connect me to the same automated HANG UP SYSTEM, I called back and tore the same girls head off and she FINALLY transferred me to a customer service supervisor, after a screaming match and her telling me she couldn't transfer me to a supervisor.

Of course, I just got his voice mail, which aptly had a disclaimer on the length of time it would take for him to return phone calls which is 48-72 hours. VERY NICE!

So, I just faxed them a letter and DEMANDED that a supervisor call me and I also mentioned this site and the number of complaints filed against their spiffy company. We'll see if I get my money. So far, no return phone call.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I finally got through to a live breathing body at Fairbanks and NOW they are telling me the checks were mailed yesterday. Of course, I STILL haven't heard from a supervisor and this is the 4th change of when my refund check was ALLEGEDLY sent. SCAM!
