Family Dollar Stores ripoff lost almost everything due to a bad district manager Matthews North Carolina
Like many of you I too made family dollar my life.
In the first 3 years I worked for the company I had no problems other than being over worked. In the last 15 months we got a new district manager and all hell broke lose.
From day one I could never please him my store wasn't up to the company standards and he never liked me. Like so many others I ran a store on 135 hours a week, One asst.and one cashier. Unloaded trucks by myself most of the time. Always took alot of sh-- from the district manager and felt that if I ever said anything about his treatment towards me I would lose my job. He would call me in on my day off, even called me in out of sick bed to run the store, violating my doctors written slip.
By May 2005 I had achieved a score of 10 on my store and was able to maintain it. In the months of Oct. and Nov. I ran two stores at the sametime. I ended up with a back injury on Nov.28, 2005 and was on modified duty.
During the month of Dec. 2005 the district manager would harras me about my injury explaining how much I costed the company and how stupid my actions were. He would also demand that hours get cut and the store be in 100 % condition when he gets there. I was under going treatments and was on 8 different meds for my back and I would experience severe back spasms at work. My DM would say it was my responsiblity to run the store and that he could not help me. On Dec.28,2005 I was taken off work completely for 10 days.
On Jan.06, 2006 I returned to work for the 4 hours I was allowed to adn I was fired because my asst. did not record her work time. I was denied any benefits and was paid $137.00 for my last check instead of the $527.00a week. Could not get any response from corp. on this and was told by my district manager that this was all was intitled to. Now he has filed an appeal against my unemployment and has all my benefits stopped. Being a single mom I cannot live without some sort of income.
I still am under doctors care and still am not able to work for more than 4 hours a day and can not lift more than 5 lbs. So I am not able to get a job. Of course there is alot mre to say but it would turn into a book to try and explain all that I was put through by this DM.
I would like for something to be done about him and I know of at least 4 other managers that have experienced the same treatment by the same DM. Please if anything can be done let me know. They can't hurt me anymore.
