This, may however, be covered under the state's Worker's Compensation laws and that is something worth looking into.

In a right to work state you cannot be forced to join a labor union as a provision of your job. However, North Carolina is a state that has no laws regarding "at will" employment. At will means that an employer can fire you at anytime for any reason as long as it does not violate state and federal discrimination laws. In other words, they can fire you for having blond hair but not for being gay or they can fire you for having a beard but not for being a minority.

I would like to know did you report your injury to the immediate supervisor? Was a claim filed. Also if you had a note to be out til the 28th then why on earth would you go back until then. Policy is you can not come back til your note says. If the manager or DM let you come bace they were ignorant of the Family Dollar's Policy. I'm very sorry for your mishap but sounds to me no one knows what they were doing. Thank goodness Im in a district that has people that know what they are doing.
