A 2001 Durango with Gold extended Warranty from Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc would not move whether in drive, reverse or neutral. I called the local dodge dealer and was advised not to do anything and have it towed. I did.

After getting it to the dealer, the service center started it up, gave it an excessive amount of gas, and after a banging noise, the car started to move. The dealer said they did not know whether the problem was in the transmission/transaxle or differential (covered items). They did not want to take these parts apart to look for the cause.

I tried to file a claim with Fidelity Warranty Services for the cost of towing. Fidelity's response was that no part failed. No part was replaced, therefore no part failed.

I argue that since the car was unable to move when started up and put in gear, that the transmission or differential (and the parts thereof) DID fail. A car that is unable to move has failed. The transmission or some other covered parts failed to function as designed and intended. Fidelity's says no part failed because no part was replaced, therefore towing is not covered.

Damage Resulting = We ended up paying over $105 dollars for the towing costs to the dealer. It was towed at the dealer's advice and direction.

What was your failure and was it fixed?

You mentioned that you had a problem but you took it someplace where they wouldn't even diagnos it. FWS or any co. for that matter will not assist in a claim be it for rental or tow unless they have a confirmed covered failure. On your contract these items may be listed but without confirmation of the failure a claim cannot be processed. I'm sure you would agree anyone with a contract could call and try to get a tow covered even if a repair wasn't made. You don't bother mentioning what ended up being wrong or what needed fixed why?
