Finau Palu - Artistic Concrete ripoff Talked me into enlarging job Got me to pay all his money Abandoned project before finishing San Leandro California
Picked Artistic Concrete out of yellow pages to bid on sidewalk and driveway demolition and replacement job. Finau was persuasive, charming and persistent. I awarded him jb based on price and promised scope of work.
The crew started the job rapidly (the day after I awarded it). Finau was quite efficient about asking for progress payments which I paid. He also asked me to pay for the cement and bricks myself, which I also did, crediting them against job cost.
Bricklaying part of job got pretty slow; crew would miss a day without expalnation, then 2, then come back for a couple days straight etc. Progress payments + what I spent on cement and bricks were up to about 95% of bid total, and job still needed most of edge bricks to be cut and fitted when they just stopped coming. I waited a couple of weeks, he wouldn't return any phone calls and he hung up on me once.
Finally I juist gave up and hired another contractor for $1200 to get job done.
