Took my car in for possible battery replacement, after my car wouldn't start. Firestone took it in and told me my battery was dead AND I also needed to replace my alternator. This was a $550 service. I declined the alternator repair and asked them to just replace the battery because I felt that they weren't being honest with me.
The service advisor "Scott" then put the fear in me that I should be replacing the alternator ASAP because it will drain my battery. He told me not to drive anywhere, use my radio, etc. I decided to take my chances and just get the battery and take my car to a different, trustworthy mechanic the next day.
After taking my car to the second mechanic, he informs me my alternator is working just fine!
I contacted "Scott" to let him know I was aware of his attempt to scam me and he blamed it on his computer system, pretty much saying it's not my fault. I can't imagine how many other customers have gotten new alternator's or whatever else when they didn't need it. I spent $1200 in their shop a few month's ago for brake work. Now I'm thinking I got scammed then too.
This is shameful of them to take a customer's hard earned money just to make a profit. Stay away from this Firestone!
