Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I went into the local firestone, to purchase my tires. Last month I was quoted a buy 3 get 1 free. when tey recommended a lot of other repairs upon my basic oil change service which I was told be less than an hour, but took 2 hours. But the tire quote was a "good deal", and at the moment I didn't have the finances to purchase that day, so I took the quote in with me b/c it said good for 30 days on the bottom of print out, as well as the quote for the repairs recommended to discuss pricing.  When arrived I was waited upon and informed the sales person that I was here to purchase tires, ( his eyes got as big as golf balls), and some other services. I then game the person my vehicle information, tire size, and which tire I had chosen.. The price of the tire was a/b $35 cheaper than last month....   I then asked  if I could still get the buy 3 get 1 free pricing from my quote from my prior visit.. Of course I was told no, that is over.. I said the quote says good for 30 days, and it had only been 14 days since the quote.. then they stated the tire is now cheaper, but would still come out to the same price..  That then was my first red flag... I then discussed the pricing of the services recommended and informed them that the rotors were quoted to me at $129.99, and that the highest price one at the parts store was $39.99...  They said that was the price..  Mad an furious I left knowing that the total "deal" was a rip off..    My advice do NOT spend your money there go to another tire outlet or even the dealer... I purchased my 4 tires from discount tire, same brand $50 cheaper w/ free lifetime road hazard which they wanted to charge me for at Firestone..   Went to the dealer and had the front pads and rotors replaced for $50 cheaper.. even though the dealer said that the brakes were still a/b 5 mm of pad remaining it could wait, but I had told them that Firestone stated it needed them, the service manager said no, you can wait a little while longer, that we normally recommend them around 4mm and are required at 2mm of pad remaining..  I said I had already budgeted for it so go ahead and to it..  My total bill there with the other maintenance items that Firestone had recommended was $175.34 cheaper at the dealer..  So word of advice.. Stay Away....

I forgot to mention on my last reply, that we have a 150% price match guarantee on tires.  That means that if you find a lower price on the same time at a competitor, we will refund 150% of the price difference.  When it comes to Discount Tire, please keep in mind that they do not offer alignments or other vehicle services that you may need.

We recommend that when you purchase new tires, that you perform an alignment, if necessary,  to ensure you get the best possible mileage and wear from your new tires.  This is a service that we do recommend on all tire purchases.  We also have free rotations on all tires that you purchase from us to again ensure that the tires last as long as possible.

Again, we do our best to be competitive.  We can't always be the cheapest on tires but we can offer the guarantee just in case there are times when the competition has a better price.

Thanks,

Steve

Thank you for posting about your experience.  I am from the corporate office of Firestone Complete Auto Care and I would like to help.  Please send me an email at [email protected] so I can get more information from you.  Please include the store address so I can make sure it is a company-owned store and to get the store team involved.

Tire price quotes are valid for 30 days but in the event that you were quoted for a special promotion, like the Buy 3, get 1 free, those promotions have a specific expiration date - like a coupon at a grocery store.  If that promotion expired between the time you printed out the quote and the time that you came back into the store, that would be the reason why the price would not be honored.  Please include the quote number in your email so I can verify that this is what happened.

As far as the brakes, we are typically priced higher than part stores for our parts.  That is because we need to mark up our prices in order to pay the techs to install and to keep the lights on.  Our stores are full service providers who perform the service for you versus a parts store who just sells you the parts.  We do our best to ensure that our prices are competitve to all other full service providers for the same service.  However, there are times when other service providers are cheaper.  When it comes to new car dealers, they are doing their best to drive customers to their car dealership for service and tires. Many times, their pricing is very aggressive for this reason.

While I am not aware of your specific situation, I can tell you that if your brakes were 5mm and the recommended replacement of the brakes is at 4mm, as suggested by the dealer, we would have recommended them to be replaced at the same time so that you have all new brake parts installed together.  This is also to save on labor costs as we would have already had the wheels off and were doing other brake service.  1mm is not a lot of wear left to go before the brakes would need to be replaced.

In any case, I would still like to review your situation with our Consumer Affairs team to make sure that we were not incorrect in our pricing.

Thanks.

Steve
