I RETIRED FROM THE USARMY 35 YEARS AND 7 COMBAT TOURS, I AM A DISABLED VETERAN, AND I NEED MY CPAP MACHINE TO SLEEP OR ELSE MY HEART STOPS, I PURCHASED MY DREAM HOME 1 MAY 2017, MY A/C UNIT WORKED FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS, ONE WEEK I HAD NO A/C, I CALLED MY REALITOR ON 30 MAY 2017 TO FIND OUT MY HOME WARRANTY INSURANCE INFO, BRUCE TOLD ME, FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY INSURANCE THAT COVERS ALL APPLIANCES , A/C AND MY POOL, 800 992 3400 MY REP IS KEVIN WOOL AT 702 701 4851, SO THE INSURANCE GIVE ME A WORK ORDER NUMBER 609277943, I GET A

CALL FROM ( THE A/C GUYS) THATS THE NAME OF THE COMPANY WHO WORKED ON MY A/C UNIT // TECHNICIAN SHOWS UP, ASKS ME WHATS HAPPENING WITH MY A/C, HE CLIMBS UP TO THE ROOF, OPENS A PANEL, DOES SOME TESTS, CLIMBS DOWN , GOES TO HIS TRUCK, SHOWS ME 2 ITEMS THAT NEED REPLACING, HE CLIMBS UP, REPLACES PARTS, CALLS IT IN, BEFORE HE CLIMBS DOWN I ASKED THE TECHNICIAN, WHY IS MY A/C UNIT MAKING LOUD NOISES, TECHNICIAN SAYS, ITS OK, MOST A/C'S MAKES THAT SOUND, SO HE CLIMBS DOWN, I ASKED THE TECHNICIAN AGAIN, I NEVER HEAR A/C UNITS MAKE THAT HIGH PITCH

SOUND, TECHNICIAN TOLD ME IT WAS OK, YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, IF IT BREAKS WE WILL COME BACK OUT TO FIX IT, COMES IN, SETS MY A/C THERMOSTADT TO 68 UNTILL IT COOLS THEN SET IT FOR 70. 10 DAY AFTER I PAID MY $75 DOLLARS ENJOYING MY A/C, I HEAR A VERY STRONG BANG, I THOUGHT ALL MY WINDOWS BROKE, FEW MINUTES LATER NO A/C, ONLY HOT AIR, SO IN THE MORNING I CALL FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY INSURANCE , THEY ISSUED ME ANOTHER WORK ORDER 609323188, 14 JUNE 2017, ON THE 15TH ANOTHER TECHNICIAN VISIT ME I TOLD HIM I HEARD A VERY LOUD BANG , HE WENT ON

THE ROOF, TOOK PICTURES AND TOLD ME THAT HE WILL HAVE TO REPLACE A FAN, THE FINS BROKE, I SAID OK, TECHNICIAN TAKES PICTURES AND CALLS IT INTO THE OFFICE, THE TECHNICIAN REASSURED ME ITS ONLY THE FAN BLADES BROKETHAT HE ALREADY ORDERED IT, IT SHOULD TAKE ABOUT 3-5 DAYS, HE LEFT, THEN ON 16 JUNE 2017 I GET A CALL FROM FIRST AMERICAN HOME WARRANTY INSURANCE STATING THEY ARE DENYING MY CLAIM THAT I PURPOSELY DESTROYED MY A/C UNIT, I SAID ARE YOU f**kING KIDDING ME, I TOLD YOU GUYS I HEARD A LOUD BANG, THE INSURANCE STATED, " THE FAN BLADES ARE BROKEN,

THE SHROUD IS SHREDDED, AND THE COILS ARE DAMAGED" DENIED SO THEY WROTE IT UP AS THE HOMEOWNER DESTROYED HIS A/C UNIT SO I CALLED BACK 16 JUNE 2017 TALK TO X 6211 JOHN, I EXPLAIN TO HIM WHAT HAPPENED, THEN HE PUT ME ON HOLD AND HUNG UP ON ME, 4 TIMES THEY HUNG UP ON ME, UNTIL I SPOKE TO A REALLY NICE LADY X 6275 ILIANA, SHE WROTE DOWN MY PHONE NUMBER AND AFTER I EXPLAINED TO HER WHAT HAPPEN, SHE TOLD ME SHE HAS TO TALK TO HER BOSS, SHE PUT ME ON HOLD, MY PARENTS WERE WITNESSES THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS, ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER ILIANA TOLD ME

THAT I HAVE TO WAIT 24-48 HOURS ON MONDAY 19 JUNE 2017, SO I CALLED BACK ON TUESDAY 20TH JUNE LEFT 3 MESSEGES NO CALL BACKS, ON 21ST WEDNESDAY I CALLED BACK, X 3251 RAYNA TALKED TO ME, SHE STATED DENILE STILL STANDS HAVE A NICE DAY AND HANGS UP, SO I CAN NOT GO HOME UNLESS I AM PICKING UP MAIL, I CAN NOT USE MY HOME BECAUSE OF THE HEAT, MY DREAM HOME IS MY NIGHTMARE - PLEASE HELP

They are a terrible warranty company - but no worse than most of the others

In my experience I have found that these home warranties are generally worthless. If you read the policy, especially for a/c repair, you will see that there are many exceptions/exclusions to the warranty. Those contracts are an excersize in futility for the homeowner. The bold print says an item is covered and then you read the fine print, and there is a whole list of exclusions.

In fact, it is pretty amazing you got the warranty company to cover the first repair. Do whatever you have to do to get a refund for the balance of the contract or to cancel the contract. Read your contract to see what procedures you have to follow to cancel the worthless warranty, otherwise they will continue to charge you if you pay monthly. Take the funds you were paying for the warranty and put those funds in savings for home repairs. You will be better off in the long run. 

It is far better for you to hire a legitimate a/c service firm to repair the a/c and to maintain it on a regular basis. The a/c companies that the home warranty companies work with usually do not have well-trained technicians because those warranty companies don't pay the going rate for repairs. It's a cycle. Repairman is inexperienced and does a poor job so the unit repair doesn't last.  The only people that win that way is the warranty company.  

Get a good a/c company that knows what they are doing.  Owning a home is a responsibility. Part of home ownership is maintaining your home. Don't let your home sit without proper a/c in this hot summer. It isn't a good idea as other repairs may be needed due to the humidity and heat build up without functioning a/c. Learn to take care of your home. If you don't want the responsibility, then sell your home.
