I don't usually respond to such angry reports such as yours but you are so misinformed that I felt I owed it to the general public to set this record straight. I have been going to see Dr Dobro for five years (going on six) and continue to see him. From the very first meeting, he was very upfront regarding his prices, went over every detail of the services he recommended for me and spent an uninterrupted 40 minutes discussing all costs involved, plan of care, the length of time my procedures would take, etc. He and his staff were very consistent, informative and friendly. I had several dental implants along with other dental procedures and have to say that the cost was very competitive and affordable. In my opinion, he is neither expensive nor high priced compared to any others of his profession and I never got the impression that he was out to rip anybody off. Most dental professionals do require the 300. for the first visit that you are talking about but considering what is involved, this is a very reasonable price. I had to sign a payment agreement as most people do but the payments were fair and I made them on time. I'm also not rich but have the typical dental insurance which helps a little. The upfront costs and reimbursement estimates are always explained in detail by either himself or his staff. Dr Dobro is very down-to-earth and always explains things on a level that his clients can understand, including costs. He always asks if there are any questions and is eager to clarify. I've been recommending his services to all of my friends and associates who can use what he has to offer because he is just that excellent; personably and professionally. My husband also has been going to see him for the same length of time and feels as I do. We can't say enough good things about him and his staff. The people I have recommended to him likewise appreciate his services and recommend his office to their friends. I've also never heard of the "barter system" of which you spoke, and have never written any postdated checks. As I said, I don't typically respond to such reports as yours but since it is so blatantly incorrect, you left me no choice.

I think you just misunderstood Mr. Dobro's agreement. Its simple, When you labor for him he pays for the parts and materials...when he does work on your teeth, it's the same you pay for parts and materials he does the work.
He has a upper class Dental Office in a upper class neighborhood. That means your getting upper class Dental treatment and it is going to cost you a little more than say being processed like a cow at State Facilities or Company's like Comfort Dental where your side by side with 5 year old screaming Timmy who is getting his teeth cleaned and your just trying to focus on your root canal. So when you break it all down you work a few jobs for him at your price that equal up to an $300 office fee for first initial visit then like any ordinary Dentist he has xrays of your mouth so he can understand your teeth situation ( important) Then from their you tell him what you want fixed and ask him how many barter bucks it will take for him to do the procedure and what will the cost for materials be. Your still getting a deal a decent one to, the over all costs of doing it with or without insurance is still going to be costly at any Dentist Office.
Sum it up..... I get a Top notch Dentist for a little bit of elbow grease to trim off the labor costs for my Dental work, and I don't have to listen to Carmella's 5 kids yelling in the seats next to mine at one of the other high volume Dental Services.
Not to take a stab at any of the Dentists out there but I have a couple friends who both have received dentures....let me tell you it does make a difference who puts them in, one friend looks like he can run with the beavers the other friend you cant tell he has dentures at all. One was done at Comfort Dental the other at Dr. Dobros
My friend with the nice dentures had them done at Dr. Dobros. He didn't do the barter program, he payed for his and the price was a few dollars higher than a decent office out there but the way he and I figure it is...take a good look at his smile and the work done....so the few extra spent was well worth it plus he could have bartered for a reduced price..
Actually I think more Dentists and Dr's could learn something from Mr. Dobro.... an act of kindness say's a million words. To have someone do any kind of work for free or reduced in this economy right now is a blessing.
