I had a check sent back for $2 when I had the money in the bank. After a week it showed me how much money I had left and once I paid the $2 they sent it back. I had $16 left in the bank. The company charged me $25 and the bank charged me $35. I have been having problems with this bank ripping me off from day 1.

How do you know?

You said the bank returned a check for $2 even though you claim you had the money in the bank. So just how did you know you had the money?

My guess is that you were not using a Check Register and instead relying on the "on-line" banking which only shows what items have been submitted to the bank.   How do I know this...because you stated after a week "it" showed you how much money you had left.  "It" in this case was their on-line or automated banking.  It was NOT your own written check register.

Now, I will tell you that there is probably more going on here than you are saying.  Because while a bank has the right to return a check for NSF, doing it over $2 is very rare.  This probably means that you have a history of NSF checks and overdrafts where they are finally getting tired of it and are just going to start rejecting any checks that put you into overdraft.

This is NOT a RipOff on their part.  The only RipOff here is your failure to maintain your account.  If you don't have or know what a check register is then go to your local branch and talk to one of the account reps.  They will be glad to provide you with a written register and probably even give you a short lesson on how to use one.  Then it just becomes a simple matter of you not attempting to spend more than you have available.

What does your CHECK REGISTER say on the day of the overdraft? I'll bet you don't even keep one, do you? You check an on-line balance which is NOT accurate. There's no rip off here. You don't keep written records and maintain an on going running balance so that you know for a fact how much you have in the account! This is the same reason for everybody who comes here to whine about overdraft fees!
