First Move Van Lines is a ripoff fraud that mistreated, lied to & threatened us. Tarzana, California
First Move guaranteed an arrival time between 8-10 a.m. but, arrived at 2:30 p.m. after claiming to be stuck on the highway in traffic (lie) and then looking for a third mover which never arrived. They then began packing the mirrors and glass tops in boxes which we were told we free on the estimate and then were charged $300 for the boxes.
The day of the move Mr. Cohen the owner promised a discount for our inconvenience (missed last day of work, lost a day of travel, etc.) however, each time we tried to discuss a discount with him he kept putting us off saying he would discuss it later. The cubic feet of the move was more than double the estimate and we were forced to pay over the total estimate price at the time of the move.
During the 30 days our belongings were in storage we made in excess of 10-15 attempts to discuss our situation with Mr. Cohen who did not return any messages until we threatened to call the BBB and AMSA. Mr Cohen also promised to compare the weight with the cubic feet and charge us the cheaper. He never weighed it and then reneged on the discount as well as the charge for the glass top coverings.
When we told him we needed to exercise the law and ability to pay the balance in 30 days he threatened to call the police for harrassment. He forced us to pay the whole amount even though he again had his movers show up without the proper amount of help and made us wait 8 hours while they tried to find enough help. They also shattered a $400 lamp and broke pieces to an end table and dining room table.
