So I filled out an ad to qualify for a NoteBook/Plasma TV/Mortorola Razr phone and less than 48 hours later my phone is ringing off the hook with calls 10 - 15 times a day from the same number. Next thing I know I'm being dialed with 555.1212 and "Unavailable" showing up as the caller ID on my cell for the nest several days. So finally tonight I answered the phone and I'm suddenly all up front with Sharon Raymond ID: 043 that's spinning me some sugar free shinola about how I've been approved for some grant worth around 12,500.00. So I'm trying to listen in and not ask her to repeat herself too many times (seeing as how Sharon was a couple of Happy Meals shy of a good Spoken English Refresher class) and the next thing your know Madame Sheisty's trying to break out the concrete closer for my bank phone number and routing number...now that didn't really worry me but I didn't come down with yesterday's rain either so I asked her if I could call her back with the info tomorrow. She said I wouldn't be able to get a direct line to her but (she'd given me the www.firstnationalgrant.com website and her (fake) name and ID earlier in the conversation) she'd give me the customer service number of 800.410.1682.

So she's trying to lay this sad sack rap out about how there's just a 29.99 processing fee that needs to be paid on the 29th but by this time I'm figuring she's already got enough info on me to charge a fee to my account if I give her the routing and my bank account number. So we left the conversation off with me scheduling to call her back Thursday. As soon as I hung up the phone I checked out the site (it's a real site) and then Googled them to find this hit at the top of the page....

So the way I figure is that there's a fair to partly cloudy chance that they have this site set up also just to check out reports from folks who may have clocked their game before they even got into the ballpark. In either case I know no one is chasing my cheeks around dialing me 11-15 times a day just so they can have the honor of giving me cash so I may have to write this one off as the phone scam amateur hour tryouts. Hope everyone else thinks twice.
