Perhaps instead of spending all the fee-based profits on dressed up targeted marketing tactics, they could spend that on retraining their employees to be good customer representative professionals on the phone. MY REAL BANK WOULD NEVER TALK TO ME LIKE THAT.
They are great as long as you don't have a problem. But God help you if you have a problem- then is when you find out exactly what happens when fast food wages are given to credit card customer service representatives.
I love the arrogant and belittling comment "It was in the service agreement. Why did you sign up for the card if you didn't intend on paying for it?"
For the record, if I wanted your smart-a*s comments, I'd ask for them. When I call with a problem, help me. After all, I pay your company a lot of money each month, I EXPECT some form of RESPECT when I call with a problem
Bottom line- they are rude because they can be.

First off, your account is probably in "in house" collections. Secondly, there are thousands of phone lines going out of Premier at any given time. The phone company blocks the numbers. Next, do you really think that there are people calling each and every business in your city, looking for you? No, obviously at some point you gave them your business number. (Probably in your application) If you don't want or can't have calls at work, all you need to do is say so. You missed a payment and per the terms and conditions of your contract, the balance in full is due. This is a SUB PRIME credit card. It is fee based. If you didn't agree to the terms, you should not have used the card. If your payments are on time and the card is not over the limit, they have no reason to call. You missed your payment, you created the calls yourself. The "jerks" (as you call them) are just doing their job.

I don't see where anyone said not having a debit card was a good idea. I see where he says credit cards are a bad idea, but nothing about debit. I don't have a credit card either and get along just fine with a debit card. I can rent cars, get hotel rooms, book airline tickets all with my debit card. I also am using my own money when i purchase things with it so I never have to pay a bill or go into debt. If I need some extra cash, I get a loan from my credit union, not at one of those shady payday loan places. I only spend money I have, unlike most of America.

Benn is right. It is really smart to not have a credit card. Unfortunately I gather that he never travels or rents a car. Good luck buying an airline ticket or renting a car or staying at a hotel without a credit or debit card. I'd like to know his secret.

Most companies have a grace period if your late on a payment, but once you go over it, its all on you. You agreed to pay by a certain time, and were to understand that there would be fees attached to a late payment. Its not their fault, although I don't think they needed to send your account to a bill collector, since it was only a little over a week...

Per your own admission, you were late. Now to go to the extreme that they did is a bit worsesome yes, but they do have to right to call and ask you when you are planning on making a payment. And for you remarks about the extra fees; most of this is listed on the terms of the contract that was enclosed with the application. Now is that amount correct? I have no idea so I would suggest that you double check their claims and dispute it if you feel there is an error. But like you said, you are going to pay of the credit card and not do business with them any longer. GREAT. Personally they were the last credit card I have ever owned and for the last six years I have managed very well off without one. If I have a low money issue, I have great working relationship with my credit union where they are willing to loan me a short-term (mirco-loan) for the small-term. So off with the credit card burden and into living debt-free I say!
