Florida Technical College FTC is a ripp off. Orlando, Florida
Seriously look at this:
FTC charges $30,000 for an 18 month degree program that most credits will not transfer, faculty do not stay long, or they are not qualified to teach in the subject area. There a few good people here at the school that care and go out of their way, but for the most part it comes down to money. Faculty have "Last Day of Attendance" meeting daily and have to chase students down if they do not show up. They call, email, and get alternative numbers from financial aid to contact them and get them to come back. A student drop is lost revenue to FTC. I hear it all the time!
You should attend Valencia or Seminole and spend a fraction of the amount ($6,000 to $8,000 total) listed above and transfer to a regionally accredited school. You could also attend UCF for four years for what FTC charges and be better off. Why not look at the cheaper school as times are tough but FTC makes all the money!
FTC says they care, but they only care about money and the students that can get the loans or grants. Hence the fact that the are a "for-profit" college. Money is the driving factor as they have to answer to investors and like the other reports have said, the higher level employees drive Lexus', BMW's. and Mercedes. Who do you think pays for that. Look at what the lower end and faculty drive. Older and cheaper vehicles as that is what they can afford. FTC does not pay faculty and lower end employees well at all.
How many FTC graduates have really gone on to greatness and done well?
If they did there would not be one complaint listed on this board. As we can see, there seems to be daily complaints on here. Many students talk about this site and I wanted to chime in and tell you what I know. Valencia, Seminole, University of Central Florida, and Rollins College are not listed on this board. That in itself should tell you something about FTC and how they operate. We as employees hear stuff that we are not supposed to tell anyone. But I want to be the whistle-blower in this!
FTC has burned many bridges in their externship department as most offices will not hire or want to see any graduates in their facility. These are all cold hard facts.
I am a current employee of the college and am not happy as most of my fellow employees feel the same. I have seen it all and yes I would love to leave but the economy has made it hard to find a job.
