Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am a homeowner in the Norcross area and I have noticed several signs in my area popping up and advertising for numerous different roofing companies. Curious, I decided to talk to some of my neighbors and found that they were getting their roofs replaced through their insurance companies. So naturally I filed a claim and went through the same process myself.

What I found however was that I think I did a little more homework than those around me in the neighborhood. I found some of the companies haven't been in business very long (Pro-Active, since January 2008), some weren't even with the BBB (Fortress), and some didnt even have a physical address, just a P.O. Box (Wilson Roofing), the only reason I am writing this is in hope that my neighbors will do the same homework I have. Please consumer beware!!! And do your homework!!!

I am also a homeowner and I too noticed several signs in my area advertising for numerous different roofing companies. We are getting ready to put our house on the market and have been doing a number of repairs to make our home as competitive as possible in the current market. Over the years I have dealt with more than my fair share of contractors and I always do my research prior to engaging someone because a number of companies have a great "pitch" but either don't deliver or don't do the last 10%. Our community has a section on our website that provides reviews of contractors. Instead of listening to the "pitch" from all the roofers, I looked at the "community reviews". In particular, I looked at the negative reviews because I knew I didn't want to engage someone that others were dissatisfied with and I also looked at the positive. I contacted a member of my community that has posted a particularly harsh review of a contractor sensing that they had very high standards and might be able to provide insight into an above average roofer. This person had interviewed and researched a number of companies and had made the decision to go with Pro-Active Exteriors. I decided to give them a chance. Seth, their representative came out on the weekend so that he could meet with both my husband and myself and answer any questions. He was very prepared and extremely responsive. We made the decision to go with Pro-Active and there was no disappointment whatsoever. He came on a Sunday morning and met with the adjuster from our insurance company. We did have extensive hail damage and he climbed on the roof and identified the impacted areas for the adjuster which he had noted and marked on a prior visit. He was thoroughly prepared and had documentation of the cost of materials and labor etc to replace the roof. We have insurance with a well established carrier and I had heard several concerns expressed by neighbors regarding some of the companies paying out claims. Our claim was approved by Tuesday of that week and I deposited the check on Thursday, On Monday, the crew from Pro-Active Exteriors arrived, the materials were delivered and by that afternoon the roof was complete. The entire process took less than two weeks. I'm not sure why the person above has expressed concerns, but this company delivered. I watched them work and I have had a number of the other contractors that are working on-site comment about the quality of the work that was performed. While other companies may be fly by night, I believe that Pro-Active Exteriors has the qualities that will make them a competitor in this market place. I have only positive comments about their delivery and customer service and I'm hoping my new roof will be the icing on the cake that sells my house. I would definitely recommend them to others. Every person I dealt with in their organization was very professional and responsive. Not concerned, extremely satisfied in Johns Creek Georgia!

Please do not confuse ProActive Exteriors, Inc. (from Wisconsin) with any comments on this board. The company in Georgia has the same name but is in NO WAY affiliated with the business in Wisconsin. We are a premier exterior services contractor and have been in business longer and have a stellar reputation as factory certified professionals (Certified by GAF/Elk, the Vinyl Siding Institute, AirVent Corporation, among others). We are also members in good standing of NARI, the National Association of Remodelers, Inc. If you are interested in our services in Southeast Wisconsin, please visit our website at www.proactiveexteriors.com or call 414-801-9637 for references.

I am Michael Wilson the owner of Wilson Roofing company. I am writing this as a response to the Rip Off report listing above. I would like to start off by saying Wilson Roofing Company has been in business since 1963. My father started the company and sice his retirement has turned the business over to me. We are located in Lithonia our physical address is 6974 Ruth St. and our warehouse location is on the same property but has a diffferent address which is 7001 Center St. The mailing address is P.O. Box 1277 Lithonia, Ga 30058. We have a P.O. Box because it is easier for us the recieve mail from the post office. The goals of our company have always been quality and service to our customers. We are certified in both residential and commercial roofing. We are fully insured with workers compensation and general liability insurance. We are glad to supply those to certificates to our customers upon request. We are not members of the Better Business Bureau because we do not choose to be. This is simply a personal choice. Being in business over 40 years we will furnish our customers with as many references as needed and may check with the Better Business Bureau if they wish. So you see that the report is false and please have it removed from the websit as soon as possible. Your assistance in this matter would be graetly appreciated. If you have questions or concerns you can reach us at our office 770-482-8588. Sincerely, Michael H. Wilson Wilson Roofing

First, belonging to the BBB means only that a company has paid membership dues. Membership in itself means absolutely nothing. Much like being licensed, the company has paid a tax, that is all. Make sure your contractror has liability insurance and employee theft bond, that way if your roof caves in or your wife's diamond ring goes missing, you are covered. The prescreened contractor web sites just make sure the contractrors can pay for the referrals. Fortress Roofing has only been in business for a couple of years, but the owner has years of experience. He just recently decided to go into business for himself. Call him and ask. So, yes, definately do your research. Just make sure you are checking things that matter.

Wilson Roofing has been here (Atlanta) for over thirty .........30 years. Our "brick and mortar" office is on center street in lithonia. Now having said that, there is some one who is using the name "Wilson Roofing and Restoration"...... not the same name. They are not even filed with the secretary of state.......wich is where you SHOULD do your home work. You probably don't know, but the BBB requires companies who wish to be a "member" to pay hundreds, some times thousands of dollars a year for their "endorsement". The BBB does have a file on us, just got to their web site, and you will see they have reported that we have no negative reports..... We do not wish to pay them to be a member, because they report the same wether your a member or not!

The internet is a wonderful forum for making statements without putting your name to them !!

#9REBUTTAL Owner of company

Sun, June 15, 2008

When I googled my business, ProActive Exteriors, I found a "concerned competitor" (likely from out of state - they seem to think Norcross and Gainesville are adjoining cities) was making statements about my company, and two other local companies. In truth, I shouldn't feel obligated to make effusive defense against an anonymous poster on this unregulated website. However, I find it poetic that the next reference to my company past the BS posting on this unregulated site is from the CUMMING KIWANIS CLUB thanking us for being gold sponsors of their charity bike ride, october 07. And before that that we sponsored Southeast Xtreme Diving of Forsyth County ProActive Exteriors, Building up Strong Neighborhoods. Donating money to the same causes as Habersham Bank, Folks Southern Kitchen, Johns Creek Dental Care, and Sharon Springs Kroger, Thank you. Call us for a free roof inspection !
