We are trying to purchase a house listed on Foxtons, and believe me, the buyers have it worse than the sellers. Foxtons is incapable of returning a phone call, or getting anything done in a timely manner. We offered on a house 1.5 weeks ago, signed the contract 1 week ago, and foxtons still hasn't gotten the contract to the seller to sign!

What's more, they are continuing to list the property and advertise a coming open house. After making about 5 phone calls in 3 days and not having a single call returned, we finally contacted the seller's lawyer to see if she could contact the seller to have the contract signed. Hoefully, that avenue will work. However, based on all of the stories I've heard, this will not be the end of our Foxtons headache.

Buyers beware- don't even look at the houses on the foxtons website, because if you find the house of your dreams, like we did, you'll have to go through hell to get it. Sellers save money because Foxtons forces buyers to give up their representation, then they refuse to support the buyer in any way. Talk about a dereliction of duty! My only hope is that as their bad reputation spreads, they'll be put under new management, or go out of business.

Go to www.njar.com to find contact information. File a complaint with them. If Foxton's is taking a week to present the offer, they are in violation of the Realtor's code of ethics (the code states offers to be presented within 24 hours). Hope this helps. At least your complaint will be on file. If enough people complain, they may be fined or lose their liscense. Good luck. And I hope that you do get the house!
