Frank Smith - Joyce Brown - Power Mart Rewards & Trust - Wal-Mart Lotto SCAM BIG SCAM! American Shoppers Lottery - BULL CRAP - FALSE and DONT send the money!! Toronto Ontario
The Walmart Lotto - (This is how we got scammed) Our story starts with a letter with a Lottery check inside winning the amount of $125,000. The check was for $3980 and it was just a portion of the winnings. We had asked how we won or was chosen and Frank said it was from the Wal-Mart Company from filling out surveys on the computer.
They stated we had to call asap because we were winners in the October 17th 2008 drawing. The company had been trying to contact us but not successful with many attempts. The letter said not to cash the check until you call first. The letter had a claim number in which to use when calling Frank Smith direct line 416-822-0136.
He went over the letter with us to explain why we had to then send out $2580 for government taxes plus what the money gram would cost from Wal-Mart. Total $2631.30. It was to go to Joyce Brown also in Ont Canada. Address 1153 Elgin Street, Ottawa Canada KIR7E2 with no phone #.
My wife and I then call the bank in which the check was from Syracuse NY at JP Morgan's Chase Bank and then verified the account was valid. The bank business rep. would not give out any other information to this account.
Once we returned from Wal-Mart with a confirmation number we were to call him immediately. Then he told us that we would have to have insurance on the check since it was such a large sum of money. We then had to go and get another money gram in the amount of $1050 plus the money gram fee from Wal-Mart. Total $1071.00. He said Joyce Brown would also receive that amount of money. We were to call once again with a confirmation number.
We returned again and Frank Smith then said the money would be over nighted by Fed Ex on 1/15/09 between 2-4 pm in a cashiers check. The time come and past and around 5:30 pm. we decided to call Frank back and question the where abouts!!! He then said to call back in 15 minutes and he would try to track it.
Now the final part is, he then told us that the reason it was not here yet they needed $720 more to pass customs due to the large amount of money...That is where I new something was wrong. The amount of the check $3980 was now spent and we had to supply our own money to receive the remaining balance of the winnings. I got PLAYED!!!!
Wal-Mart should be notified of the scam since they are using the Wal-Mart company name and have the authorities to step in and Take Action against these false people or advertisements! Media should also be notified to make this notification world wide.
Our family prays that the check we deposited to our account does not bounce back to us now that they have received all of their money back. We hope no one else had to go though what we have been though.
