I was advised to go to freecreditreport.com to get a free report of my credit because I was in the market to purchase a new home. On their web page it clearly states
..."IMPORTANT INFORMATION

On January 30th 2012 I opened a 7 day free trial account just to see how it all worked and to see what my score was. On February 6th I noticed I was charged $29.95 on January 31st to my account and also $1.00 for the instant score. I logged in to their website on my trial account and noticed this
..."Remember, your free trial membership is available for 7 days from the date you enrolled. If you choose to keep your membership, no action is required and the credit card used to enroll will be billed the $20.03 Monthly fee. If you wish to cancel your membership, call us at 1-877-481-6826 before your free trial expires and your card will not be charged".
This had me confused, so I called up to cancel my account due to the erroneous charge placed on my account. The customer service rep had cancelled my account. The next day I was charged again for $19.95. I called back to find out why I kept getting charged. Apparently I was charged because even though I had canceled within the 7 days I was told that they had held my cancelation for a period of time that subsequently carried over into the regular service period.
So in the end they stole $50.90 from my account for a
NO-RISK 7 day free trial service. I have reported this incident because I don't feel I can get my money back considering companies like this specialize in taking money from innocent customers looking for a good service.
