Back in August of 2005 I chose to use Freedom Moving and Storage to move my belongings from Chicago, IL to Boca Raton, FL. Let me set the stage by saying neither of the movers spoke any English. The list of my complaints are as follows:

1. These movers were the most rude and unprofessional individuals I had ever met, and I was immediately unhappy with this company. They made every effort to tack on extra charges when none were necessary. I argued as much as I could with the men who could not understand a word coming out of my mouth.

2. I requested the movers break down my home entertainment center to be sure they did not break it. Of course they refused, I assume because fully assembled it takes up more square footage - thus they can charge me more. Of course on arrival, these shelving units and entertainment center were damaged beyond repair, and I had to buy new units.

3. I was told my belongings would arrive within 3 days of pickup. The movers came to Chicago on a Friday morning, I departed for Florida on a Saturday morning and arrived Sunday morning, expecting by things to arrive Monday. Much to my dismay, NOTHING ARRIVED UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEEK.

4. When my belongings did finally arrive, I found my master bed frame was missing. My guest bed frame was missing pieces. In addition to the entertainment center, they had broken several dishes, glasses, picture frames, and a camera.

5. The distance from the parking lot to my doorstep on the first floor of my new apartment was roughly 35 feet. They assessed a $75 dollar charge for the "long distance from truck to door."

6. Once I filed a claim with Freedom's affiliate Anthem Claim Management, I was to receive a check for $198 to cover damages (which of course did not even come close to covering the full cost). It has been 4 months since I filed that claim. I have called 5 times to follow up on the status of my claim. Not only have I not received a check, but when I call, they either place me on hold and never pick up again, or they send me to voicemail and do not return my call.

I hope this posting will convince any individuals who are moving NOT TO USE FREEDOM MOVING AND STORAGE, as they are the worst company I have ever worked with - in any capacity.
