I am an ex-employee of Freedom Security Systems and while I agree with some of your commentary on receiving no salary, leads going to the good old boy insiders and much of the grass-roots sales team in general making no money, I DO NOT agree in any way the company overcharged clients, scrimped on contractual obligations or shortchanged employees. Many customers did in fact write good testimonials and Freedom was one of only a few surveillance companies that actually educated clients on a pro-active approach to lost prevention. This was the value-added service clients paid for in their 5-year leases. As a result, most Freedom clients will tell you their purchase was worth the premium price they paid. In actuality, Freedom discounted prices, therefore, the markup was nowhere near what was reported in most cases. I agree with Jeff Katz's rebuttal letter in regard to customer satisfaction. As an ex-employee, I was also one of those who received no leads and found it difficult to self-generate leads, however, I found the sales training second to none. In addition, the loss prevention training was invaluable. In conducting an Internet search for Freedom, I recognize several former Freedom Loss Prevention Agents have registered aliases in hopes of linking former Freedom Systems customers to their sites. In purusing several of these sites it is obvious these entities are competitors and further, none offer anything more than the supposed cheap and marked-up DVR equipment Freedom Systems was acused of marketing! So, if you are a buyer--beware! Your best bet is to consult with a nationally recognized vendor or contact the local alarm service company in your locale at least before you engage in a proposal from an Internet peddler. You folks know who you are!
