I worked for MAS (mortgage assistance solutions) AKA Fresh start, whatever they were calling themselves at the time, for a few months in early 2007. i didn't have any knowledge of the mortgage industry, but it seemed like a good company at first. all i knew that i would be doing was trying to negotiate with mortgage companies on behalf of homeowners who had fallen behind on their mortgages. sounds good right? i was used to telemarketing and customer service jobs, so this seemed a little more palatable that traditional telemarketing. and the pay was decent. well after working there for a time, you soon get a feeling that something just isn't right. number one the mitigators aren't allowed to talk to the other departments, ie; sales etc (which i later realized was because of all the BS they feed the homeowners as far as what could really be done). then after a while when you get the hang of dealing with the banks, and can get modifications easily for clients, ( which after a while of dealing with the banks can all be done by the homeowners themselves) you can not give the plan to the clients unless they are paid in full to us!!!! which MANY times resulted in their homes being sold by the bank because of the delays. (By then they are in another "dept" also one which we were not to talk to). any frustration expressed at the way things are being handled earned you a pat on the head faking sympathy from the dept heads or supervisors, but would rarely IF EVER make the allowance to give the go ahead to release the modification to the client before payment was made. and if they were able to pay in full up front to us and we were able to easily get them a modification we still had to wait to make it look like we did more than we really did, or the people would think that we didn't do any work when in reality we didn't do anything that they could have done themselves with the mortgage companies these people were already down and out in adjustable rate mortgages, and loosing everything. i did leave there after basically getting called in the office one too many times for "accidentally" releasing plans to clients before they had paid us (so they could save their homes) or having my clients cancel after i informed them that they could save their own homes, and not pay us to do anything. i am surprised to see that there are only the few complaints on this website. not surprised to see that they have raised the fee again to 1900!!! it was raised twice when i worked there. i don't know what they are calling themselves now but it looks like they have moved from clearwater to Tampa maybe, but i heard that early this year they were shutting down, but just recently heard that they just moved and maybe changed their name (again). i just want Everyone to beware of companies like these. I'm sure they are not the only one!!!! and i KNOW first hand that they ripped off many more than just the few that reported here!!! jerking families out of their homes for a couple thousand dollars and that's all they care about. DONT BE FOOLED!!!!
