If you are planning on buying a car from this dealer. BEWARE! Especially if you are an out of state buyer. They will treat you like gold when you come in. Show you every junk car they can show you at the beginning, and when you decide you want something they didn't show you. BOOM...you have a deal. Of course it depends on your credit, and how bad you want that car. Ask them questions while you test drive, and you get the RIGHT answer of course. They will do whatever it takes to get you in that car. Tell them what you require before buying, they all meet in a small room to discuss this and you have a deal. They make sure that they get you in it. Even if it cost you the consumer money you don't have. But you never know about the additional cost UNTIL much later!
We went to this dealer with the intentions of them being honest. Well, we made the purchase. Put money down (all the savings we had) and when we worked out the deal we told them UPFRONT; if there are any additional cost for taxes, we MUST have them in the deal or we will not buy! "Of course we worked it all in except for 1%. You will have to come up with about $200 when you tag it." Well, that seemed like an ok amount. We could handle that. 30 days later to our suprise, we now owe the state of OHIO approx $1200 for taxes.
Yep, they gave us a heck of a deal on our used trade in. Paid Indiana tax (well, atleast some of it) but neglected to include our OHIO tax in the loan. neglected to mention that we had to pay the trade in tax of the price they gave us for the trade in. So, who has to come up with the money. WE DO..where do we get it.
Hmmmm...GOOD QUESTION! I decided to write to Mr. Rohrman myself to explain the situation his sales person put us in. And who do I get to respond? Larry Kruse sends me a letter. It is a letter stating that Todd Macon did tell us that we would have to pay the OHIO tax. Well, yes he did....1%! That was all that we had to pay, everything else was suposedly included in our loan. So, we felt that it was the "Oh, about $200 is all", nothing major he says! Well, this Larry Kruse writes to me that if I contact them they would see what they could do to possibly "ASSIST" us in getting this taken care.
Hmmm...a call from Luke Luther comes next. He tells me that he will call me back. Instead, I get a letter from him stating. Please contact me so that we could possibly "loan" you part of the money if you can come up with the rest by a certain date. Well, nothing there.......no offer.
A few weeks later, a call from Mr. Luther. His mannerism is to be desired! Basically he states....YOU BETTER GET IT TAKEN CARE OF OR ELSE! Robert Rohrmans net worth in 2002/2003....$657 MILLION. http://www.indianabusiness.com/articles/2004/2004IB100.pdf
Can't imagine what his net worth is in 2005 selling cars to people and using his salemen to make the deal NO MATTER what it cost the CONSUMER. So to him and his company, $1200 is nothing. They could afford this kind of money. On the other hand...the BLUECOLLAR worker struggles to keep his family alive. And he can afford to be ripped off by Mr. BIGSHOT! (in Rohrmans eyes this is not a problem)....makes me sick to see his commercials or hear his name over the radio. Knowing that his selling procedure is ........TELL THEM WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR...make that sale no matter what! So you know that they have to move figures around to make them look like they are doing the most for you....have you sign the paper work, bound you to the contract and laugh at you when you leave. Well thats not the best of it. We get the van home, 30 days (after the tag issue appears) the emmision control light comes on. Hmmm..can't drive it to them to have it checked because we have NO TAGS! Let me see....our tags are no good, van needs repair, we traded in a NICE car with a loan payment alot cheaper to get a van that we can't drive, paying a higher loan amount on and trying to figure out where to come up with the money to get the tags. And best of all....getting threats from Luke Luther..."Take care of it somehow". Oh no problem Mr. Luther....I will let the house payment go, have my lights turned off, let my car insurance go, let my van payment go for the month and get my tags...well, did I forget to mention; take the food out of my kids mouth. Yep, to us...$1200 is a piece of cake. If we let all of these things go, we can afford to get the tags taken care. To sum it all up.
This company doesn't care if they lie to you, show you figures quickly, answer yes to your questions to make the sale. So buyer BEWARE....if you are from out of state, do NOT buy from this dealership. I'm taking the opportunity of addressing the Attorney Generals office, contacting all radio stations, TV stations, posting a webpage accessed to the site of all Bob Rohrman websites, ripoff reports, addressing all local newspapers, not to mention....I already posted a report with the BBB.
These people have to be stopped of taking advantage of the consumer to make a sale no matter what it cost. So, if you are looking for a car, go to vehix.com and AVOID at all cost...Bob Rohrman dealerships.
Read the rip off reports and take advantage of the 'words of consumers' BEFORE you even think about visiting one of HIS MANY stores! Yep....he has many. How do you think he gets them......exactly...HE RIPS OFF THE CONSUMER to make his millions!
Seems to me....if they offered to "help" us get the money once...they seemed to have felt a bit guilty of "hiding all of the cost in the beginning"......I hope they all sleep well at night knowing that there money comes from 'misrepresentation' when they get the paychecks. As everyone knows.....we all have to pay in the end for all of our evil misconceptions we deal people in our lives. And Mr. Rohrman is no exception....his money means nothing when he is gone. He can enjoy ripping people off while he is on this earth, but he will pay when his time comes, along with all of his 'cronies' he has working for him. If you are thinking of buying a car...make sure you think about the hidden cost before crossing that state line OHIO consumers.
