Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We purchased the Rack 2 filer version 5.0. When we did so, we installed it on our computer but didn't put the product key in right away. After 32 days, the trial version expired and the product key was nowhere to be found. Upon calling their office, I was told that they "could see my purchase on file, but there's just no way we can give you a product key, so you'll have to purchase another full version." This is crazy-this software was purchased 40 days ago (now) and they have my purchase on record, and asked my to email them my receipt. But there's no way they can give me a 16 digit code?? Thats insane, and someone's making a lot of money off of it!

The OP wrote "lost the product key" in the title.

Reading comprehension

Sounds like you are the one who has no reading comprehension, or not very many brain cells, for that matter.  The original poster said "the product key was nowhere to be found."  In the version of English that I speak, that means he did not receive the serial number.  Even if he did receive it and misplaced it, there is no reason not to tell him what it is.  If you had a functioning brain, you would realize that this does not, in any way, enable you to install and activate more than one copy of the product.

No Josh, I'm not retarded. You can't read.

The OP never stated the product key wasn't supplied. The OP wrote "lost the product key" in the title.

I did not write anything about being able to install the software on a second computer. I wrote "it could then be activated on a second computer." The OP stated that the program would not function after 32 days.

Sue them

To the commenter above: are you retarded?  A license key does not stop you from installing the software on multiple computers.

If you paid for and never received a license key for the software, you should sue them for breach of contract.  Before you do that, try doing a chargeback with your credit card company.  There is absolutely no reason why that company should not give you your license key.

One key per purchase

Why didn't you enter the product key when you installed the software? If they supplied you with another product key it would be the same as giving away a copy of the software because it could then be activated on a second computer. That product key is their protection against unauthorized use.

It's not a rip off because the software developer honored their commitment.
