Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Ms. Dee Marksberry, the principal from Gage Martin, booked a retainer for $2,500 from me for help designing my high-end home exterior and interior. She said that amount would be enough to carry me through to the final stages of the construction. Two weeks later, she changed all tile orders without consulting with me resulting in wrong material being ordered and not returnable because it was a special order. She also wasted my architect's time discussing cutting down two (2) supporting steel column "for better looks". In addition, she used my architect's drawing for house exterior, scribbled some columns on it, added a few elliptical shapes to the bottom of the roof claiming that these would be corbels, without any definition, structure, or shape, and said that she ran out of money and needed $100 more. As evidenced by the documentation that I have in my possession, she could not have spent more than a half-hour preparing for the design (or lack thereof). This has been the most negative experience of my entire building project costing over $500,000 on a property valued over $2.5 million. To say the least, this has been a very expensive half-hour for $2,600. When I asked for a partial refund, she refused. I would be more than happy to share her output with the BBB at any time. All professionals to whom I showed her scribble, including the one that recommended her, clearly stated that this is UNACCEPTABLE, and she needed to own up to it. In the words of Dante Conto, from Italian Cast Stone, the professional who referred me to her: "My fifteen year old would have done a better job than this". I think that these practices are quite abusive, and need to be brought to light so that no one else gets hurt.

It is unfortunate that there was a disaggreement between these two. However, Dante did not make this statement and I was present at the time. Not only is the statement not fitting to Dantes lifestyle, speaking about someone behind their back is not at all with in his charecter. Furthermore, why would you refer a business associate and then bad mouth their work? You contradicted yourself!

At the beginning of September Mr. Steve was referred to us by Italian Cast Stone for design consultation on his home. Dee Marksberry met with Steve on 9/1/09 for the first time to look at the project and assess the clients goals. At this meeting, Mr. told Dee that he would like her to first work on all tile and exterior stone designs right away.

Mr. came into our office to review the preliminary exterior stone ideas for the house, tile designs for all guest and powder baths, the entry, dining room and living room. After the initial meeting, our firm worked very diligently on all CAD drawings that Mr. asked for, including coming in over the Labor Day weekend to complete the tile designs for his tile setter. Despite his claims, all designs were reviewed and thoroughly explained to Mr. PRIOR to spending the design time in the CAD system.

Nothing he states in his complaint is factual, specifically the quote he attributes to Dante of Italian Cast Stone. Dante has no children and said no such thing, and when Dante confronted Mr. and said how can you quote me saying these things when you know I didnt say them? Mr. replied I know you didnt, I just made it up because it sounded good. I think that sums up the veracity of everything Mr. has to say.

For your record, we are more than willing to provide the signed letter of agreement that outlines the scope of our work, the CAD designs provided to the tile setter and Mr. via email, communication establishing the amount of work in coordination with Italian Cast Stone, and the invoice provided to the client which documents the dates, what was accomplished during the meeting and how many hours were involved.
