Let me start out first by saying that we have had some hard times and subequently have had difficulty in paying our CareCredit bill consistently and on time - but it eventually gets paid. It might be late, but it gets paid. At any rate, tonight I was making a payment on the site for GEMoney.com, which facilitates CareCredit, and looked at some past statements. I noticed a charge called "Account Security 1-866-846-6991" in the amount of $40, give or take some change (it appears to be a percentage). I wasn't sure what this was, so after some time Googling, I finally found someone else's RipOff Report listed in the search results on Google when I Googled the phone number. That's when I realized that this is a charge for something particular - i.e., account protection in the event of a layoff, or becoming disabled, etc. The problem is, I never signed up or agreed to this program, and apparently a few months ago it started showing up on the statement. Needless to say, with the corn-holing I'm getting on interest charges, and then late fees, and THEN this stupid a*s thing I didn't even ask or agree to participate in, I am now over my credit limit and never making a dent in the principal.
My next step is to find out what I can do about this. This is as bad as if someone else took your account number and bought something without your authorizing it. It is theft, and it is fraud. I fully intend to file as many complaints as possible with as many watchdogs and bureaus I can find. This is fraud, I don't care how you slice it.
