first of all matt you say the best those 2 cds have to offer the only tool that is decent is the full pc diagnostics and the hard ddrive testing tool thats it. remote agents don't close the ports when they are done in which privacy act is violated because you dont tell customers this is done. os repairs are not 100% successful in which mbs get trashed as well as partition tables. you have a point it does go both way i have seen agents steal information as well. I worked in store(442) in which they have no pride all they cared about was numbers and the amount of people they ripped off. the DI and the service manager lack leadership capabilities the full timers were lazy people who over promised under delivered, unauthorized personnel in the geek squad area who used the back room as a hangout. tell me is that how you run a store? customizer didnt do anything in terms of performance for the computers in which only thing good was installing the antivirus thats it. you really need to go to school and do your homework before you go challenging me who is an infastructure engineer and has over 7 years field experience. other than that the mri cd and the customizer are totally useless and without those 2 cds the geek squad agents are dead in the water and wouldnt know how to fix a computer and would blame it on the motherboard.

This is going to make me sound like a disgruntled ex employee but I am going to say this anyways. This is what happens when retail tries to get into the service side of the house. Best Buy / Geek Sqd do not pay good enough cash to get those who are real techs to work for them, they have a few real techs but sadly this is not the norm. Most of those guys behind the counter are students or people who have worked on their mothers computer. When Best Buy opens a new store they fill the Geek Sqd ranks with very motivated and mostly certified individuals but after a few months those who are the bean counters start screaming because they are not making enough profit at the store. This is exactly why they have warranty repair facilities, because their field agents can't even be trusted to mail out a PC let alone work on it. Its really sad, and true. The next time your at the geek sqd, ask them about certifications other than Best Buy store certs; you'll be surprised at how many are not........

Frank, I don't recall you saying there were ever any diagnostic tests run on the 44th day after the repair... Who told you that you needed a new hard drive again? Was it a Geek Squad agent, or someone else? Also, if you happen to have a warranty from the manufacturer on the hard drive, you will need to contact them to get a replacement drive if & when it does fail, Best Buy does NOT have a system to make a warranty claim to any of the hard drive manufacturers, and of course they do not pay for labor. As for you, Solid Snake: Yes. Geek Squad does only have two discs for working on computers. Two discs that are packed with the best the industry has to offer in diagnostic tools and in operating system repair utilities, as well as a fair number of proprietary tools designed to make your job easier. And yes, Agent Jonny Utah is one of the many tools that exist to help you do your job with more consistency and accuracy, not to mention speed. However, I've yet to see a client's data risked by a remote agent, whereby I have seen it risked by Precinct agents with years of REAL IT experience, as you've said you are.

as a geek squad agent i do have to admit that a majority of my fellow agents know nothing about repairing customer notebooks. with 2 cds thats called MRI & customizer thats all they know how to do. fighting viruses they let the MRI cd which has a program called F.A.C.E. do all the work for them or when things get bad geek squad hooks up your computer to the internet if possible to agent jonny utah. Best Buy/Geeksquad will deny this to the end. Jonny utah is letting some person in india or phillipines work on your computer remotely in which it is trashed 98% of the time in which ur privacy is violated. As an I.T. professional I do have to admit that geeksquad are a bunch of snot nosed kids who think they are computer geinuses by building a few computers or experimenting on the family computer. almost a wide majority of geek squad agents have no formal computer training or education let alone creddentials. in which best buy coporate personnel has sent thousands of dollars or should i say millions of dollars in gift cards & hush money because the storemanagers down to the geek squad agents dont give a crap have no sense of pride or want to build a relationship with the customer. they just want to screw the you the customer Frank & get every penny they can from you. if you want justice i suggest u fight it out with ur bank or credit card company and inform the attorney generals office that this is going on and see if they are willing to investigate the practices that are going on at best buy.
