This case has finally been settled out of court. My husband has signed paperwork that does not permit him to discuss the case, but I haven't. All I can say is be warned that this company has a record of not returning original gems to owners, and there are plenty of other reputable jewelers in South Carolina that won't do this to you. Stay away from Geiss and Sons!!

Because we would have to prove that he stole the ruby. According to the paper work, we can only prove that he "lost" it.

I need to make 3 corrections: 1) Carlos Geiss said he swiped the letter and the stone off of his desk into his trash can, not his mailbox. 2) the price I wrote first for the cost of cutting the ruby, was $250.000....sorry, it was just $250.00, as stated further down in the report. 3) also, the AF Greenwood Company, (which is located in New York), confirmed that the ruby was "well worth cutting", according to the letter. When my husband contacted AF Greenwood for help with this, he was told that Geiss and Sons is a good customer, and they could do nothing to hurt that relationship, thus, they could not help us. I guess that is why they lied in their insurance information that the lawyer requested. They did however confirm to my husband, that this was a very bad situation, in fact comparing it to someone that they knew, that had just lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in property. Interesting comparison, if the ruby was only worth $200.00, eh?

I'm just curious, but why haven't you filed an official theft report against this person with your local Police Department? Your property was stolen from you just the same as if someone had come into your home and stole it!
