With the Federal Trade Commission and Office of Thrift Supervision This is probably related to the data loss they had in Oct 2007, a magnetic tape was missing from the Iron Mountain storage facility. GE Money did not make a very good effort to inform account holders of the potential for identity theft and did not publicy announce it until Jan 08. 650,000 customer records were compromised. They claim to have found the missing tape - and also claim it was not accessed, however GEMB likes to believe its customers are stupid. There are far too many people who would know how to access the data without ever leaving a trace. Do what you need to do to do with filing police reports and cite GEMB's lost customer data as the reason behind it.
