Gene's Automotive Gene Zweig Took payment and failed to do work even after a year. Highland Illinois
Lets start with the facts. With the tax returns of 2014 i bought a camaro convertible. Thinking it may go up in value some day. I brought it to Gene's Shop and drove it off the car trailer. With gas running out of the tail pipe along with antifreeze and a loud banging in the engine, He determined the engine was shot.
I ordered a remanufactured engine with a three year warranty. 14 months later i had to have it towed to another shop, pay them for towing and installing the new engine. Gene was suppose to give me my 800.00 back that i paid him in cash but all i got was the run around. Meet me here, Meet me there. Never showed up. After a few weeks of this I told him i would sue him in small claims court.
This is where you will have to decide on your own if what i am saying is the trueth. I don't want to get into trouble for saying it is and then find myself in court for slander and not have proof of it. I have not heard but one true thing from this man in the 2 years i've been going around with him. Example: He told the judge he done a compression check on the engine with i arrived with it. Really, would you allow a compression check on a engine with a blown head gasket and possible stuck valve? He told the judge that the engine manufacturer would start the warranty if he held up a news paper next to the engine. Now, i ask you, Would you believe that one? A million engines like that one made and the engine manufacturer is to know, that is there engine.
After several months of court, No shows and lack of court ordered documents, I am still fighting him. IF you go to madison county circuit clerks web site, click on court records search, type in zweig gene ...you will see where he has been suied twice and another is still going on but isn't listed at the moment of this writing.
It is my personal opinion that this man is shaddy and can't be trusted. He has done nothing but lie and blow me off. I really don't have much faith in him as a mechinic either. After all, a engine replacement takes 15 hours. Thats two days of work. He had the car for over a year. I know at one time he was waiting for another man to come to do the work.
Please, Please, if you have him do any work, get it all in writing. IF he replaces parts, get your old ones. See the invoice for the parts he orderd that you are paying for. After all, you don't want to pay for a entire timing chain set and only get one gear.
He is a professional looking, innocent looking person. Don't let looks fool you. There is a reason he can't take credit cards.
I hope others will find this site and post there horror stories also. I know there is many more. So far this man has cost me over 3000 and climbing for a job he didn't even do. Some of that was damage to my car. I may try to post court documents if it is ok. I've got to look into it first.
