gerald auto sales 100 SCAMS....ONE BUSINESS! Joliet Illinois
DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE! This is the most dishonest dealership I have ever encountered. The list is huge but here are some of teir tricks:
1. They lure young kids (18+) in...tell them they need a cosigner and then con the kid into a car thatis not worth anywhere near what they are paying....typical of small shady dealerships but Geralds takes it a step further....they have the kid call the cosigner and agree to a set of numbers. Problem? When the papers are presented either the numbers are missing or they are much higher than the offer.
2. They offer a "free"warranty but then slyly jack up the price on the car without saying anything....hoping that nobody notices before signing papers.
3. the supposed warranty is not a third party warranty that you would buy at a reputable dealer...it is a fee for them to fix things that they already know are wrong with the car they are selling and have hidden. Sounds great right? yeah except if you have a problem they will tell you that the garage is backed up so you need to make an appointment for a week or two later...then when you come in for the appointment they are going to tell you that the garage is backed up so they will need to have it for a week JUST TO LOOK AT IT and then they will let you know they issue and when they can get it done. A warranty is useless if you can't get your vehicle fixed.
4. The cars: these are cars from auction that they do not fix. They simply make them look and sound a little better. 4 cars test drove--ALL had an engine light on after a couple days of test driving it--glad I was smart enough to put off signing the papers.
5. the scam for the kids and those with limited income or bad credit is buy this peice of junk and you can trade it in 6 months....we will give you full value AND we will fully cover it under warranty so nothing to worry about. First of all, you CANNOT build or repair credit enough to get a car in 6 months. Second, their cars are over priced so no low interest lender would finance they car even if you did build credit and third....see warranty information above.
