Your post is a little confusing and does not explain enough to know if your really being "ripped off". You also made some statements that are disturbing. You stated that it is her first time in jail. Will there be a second? To me, once would be too much. Disturbing...
Most correctional facilities do not allow incoming calls. You can imagine the disruption of the jail if the inmates control the telephones. You should check to see for sure if they even allow incoming calls. Most calls have a scheduled time to be made and are made from the inmate , collect , to the accepting parties. A cell phone is not acceptable in most cases because the calls are made collect. Did you deposit money into a telelink account?
If your daughter is over 18y/o then you dont have any legal rights to anything that happens to her in the jail/prison system. If she is a juvy and not emancipated then as a legal parent you would be able to communicate with her. You dont say why she is in jail, but you make it sound like the county kidnapped her and threw away the key. There is a possibility that your daughter committed a crime and thats why she's in jail.
I dont think you are being scammed by the Sheriff Dept. I just think your complaining.
And your final disturbing statement "When my daughter was stabbed last yr outside my bedroom window where was this sheriffs Dept then?". Most people know that police depts. are understaffed and more are needed. Law enforcement patrol 24/7 and it would be impossible and foolish to think that they could be everywhere at the exact moment in time that people need them.
In conclusion I think your post is stupid. If you really cared about your daughter then she would have been inside the safety of your home, instead of outside your window being stabbed.
