Hi There

I am a mexican citizen victim of a scam conducted by a USA company called Global Timeshares - Vacation Property Network, headquartered in Orlando, Florida (according to my bank statement).

On September 22nd (2006), I was reached by an spanish speaking agent from Goblal Timeshares, named Carlos Rodriguez, who identified himself at the time of the call as a Marriot Agent.

This person offered me a rental service for my Marriot property located in Grande Vista, Florida, from which he previously knew all related information. He explained to me all the process that needed to be followed in order to get this broker rental service agreement done and the benefits I would get specially for living outside of the USA. I accepted his offering and gave him my credit card number so that he could apply a one-time charge for the service ($899 usd). He even mentioned I could use the same credit card I had registered for my monthly Marriot mortagage payment, as if he had know all that data.

He said I would've received at my home address in Mxico City a contract and some other papers that needed to be signed in order for the operation to be completed. I was supposed to get them no longer than 7 days after that initial phone call. Two days later, I also got a phone call from the verification department fo the company. They confirmed to me all the data related to the transaction and mentioned again I would get the papers 7 days later.

Today, October 17th as I haven't received any papers to complete the rental service agreement, I called the office of Marriot in Mxico and they said this transaction was not conducted by any of their representatives because they don't offer this service as it was described to me by Carlos Rodriguez. They also said the name "Global Timeshares Orlando" which is the company that charged my credit card does not belong to them and it may be an external broker.

I've been trying to reach Carlos Rodriguez on the phone number he gave me in the USA, but the number doesn't exist. I've also tried to call "Global Timeshares" to the phone number that is listed on their web site but it is not available anymore either.

At this moment and after all I've learned about this company and this type of scams, I am already aware that I was scammed myself with $899 usd by this people, who conducted a business transaction with me faking to be the Marriot company itself.

I've also read through the web I'm not the only victim neither of this type of fraud nor of this "company". So, I wonder whwther any official office could do anything to stop this people from commiting this kind of crime, which has go beyond your borders and become an international fraud.

Thanks in advanced.

Maria
