Headed by a Anthony Miralia (real name?), the organization is a classic pyramid scheme, scamming the gullible out of hundreds of dollars with promises of success and financial rewards. Their front is selling fire safety equipment. However, the goal is to swindle money from people with no experience or education who they promise to promote to manager - complete with their own retail offices, secretaries and telemarketing staffs. While, undoubtedly, the smallest fraction move on higher into the pyramid, the vast majority find themselves left with empty pockets.

They run ads in newspaper employment sections. First interviews are conducted. The G&M "Managers" talk a good game, convincing people that despite their complete lack of work experience and education, they can become a manager after 30 to 90 days of unpaid training. In reality, the training is paid -- trainees are told to go out cold calling to sell the fire equipment. G&M gets 90% of the sale revenue while the trainee gets 10%.

Also, the cost of the training equipment is $150 out of the trainee's own pocket. The managers tell trainees they'll get the deposit back when the equipment is returned. However, the contract clearly states that the trainee only gets the money back when and if promoted to manager. The contract goes on to state that there is no commitment on the company's part to promote the trainee.

During the first training, the manager announces a competition. If the trainee pays $450, they can compete to sell $1500 worth of equipment. Apparently, the first trainee to hit the goal is awarded round-trip airline tickets. As for the losers? Well, their loss is $450.

I'm sure they continue to bleed dry anyone blind enough to stay on for the ride, but I was gone by that point.

While based out of Ohio, I believe G&M operates offices around the midwest and northeast. BEWARE!

I was a Manager for G&M for a while and while yes some of the managers are very successful, there is a very sneaky reason for it. It doesn't matter if you make sales on fire safety equipment, it's all about how many people you get to register or "reggies" as the boss man likes to call em. Now you have to understand that the manager, this was a few years ago so prices may have changed, got $25 a sign up, which by the way the person registering had to pay $75 to be "hired". So $50 to the parent company and $25 to the manager. On a good day you can sucker 10-15 "reggies" a day, and who cares if they came back to pay the "one time non-refundable" (yes it's written in the managers training kit that way) "training kit of $90 dollars". So at this point, before the employee can digest it all, you sign them up for the next training class which is "tomorrow at 4, and i really need you there". If memory serves me correctly thats $35 in the managers pocket. So to review thats $60 for the manager before this new "employee" ever makes a sale. Again, you do this 10 times a day and thats $600 to the manager. Trust me I was real good at taking peoples money, I still have my 4 diamond pin from the big boss man.

Other hidden costs that they slip in during training.

1) You must be a D.B.A. Thus protecting the parent company (trust me it's explained much nicer something like "It's your own busness!")

2) Pay the rent for your own office. That's right out of that nice big check you get you have to a) pay the office rent, b) pay the utilities c)pay for the adds in the paper d) pay your secretary and finally e) PAY FOR ALL THE SUPPLIES. Not just pens and post its, I mean all the training kits, the demo samples, heck even the daily report forms are charged. So after that awesome $10,000 month, you wind up with maybe 1,000 dollars in your pocket.

If you like taking peoples souls and lieing day in and day out, go for it take the job, but remember when you hit the goal of 3grand in sales for the first step of training (that's um $300 for the trainee, while the manager gets a cut and the parent co. gets an even bigger cut.), get ready for the "retail challenge" of around $1500-$2000 that you must pass to make it to the third level.

Yes, this company as Safety Enterprises is up and running in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They have been running ads in the Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti news papers for 3 weeks now. They are operating just as the filer has presented in their report. Thank you for filing the report, I became leary and began my own research on the company. They have set up operations temporarily to take people, scam them out of their hard earned money. They will not allow you to sit through a training, without giving them the $160.00 for a kit. Please beware.

#4UPDATE Employee

Wed, August 27, 2008

I currently work for Safety Enterprises, a company previously known as G+M Marketing. Over the past year that I have worked here I have been severly annoyed by the numerous "complaints" about this company. So maybe I can shed a little light on everything I know about it. Here are the questions most misunderstood in my opinion. Does it cost any money up front to get started? We do ask for a refundable deposit for a demonstration kit that is needed to get through the training. This is simply for the reason that there are unfortunatly a lot of people that don't have any morals any more and have no respect for the property of others. Our kits were being stolen, broken, and sold. This is the only money needed to get started. Do I get paid through training? Yes. Obviously training pay is not as much as management pay but on the other hand, would you get paid to go to college for a degree? Do we do "cold call telemarketing"? NO. We work off of a simple referral system. When do you get your deposit back? Every office manager that works for this company will expain to anyone that as soon as the training program is completed, the trainee will receive his/her deposit back. Is there any gaurantee that I will reach a management position? As a company we cannot gaurantee that everyone will reach a management position. What we will gaurantee is that as long as you are trying, no matter how long it takes, we will work with you to get you through your training and into an office as a manager. If I pay the deposit do I have to compete for a position in the company? NO!! Everyone offered the position has the job. I will say that it does take 110% effort to get through the training. This is not a get rich quick scheme. IT TAKES WORK. Do office managers really make $4,000.00 per month? I cannot speak for everyone in the company because I don't know what other managers are making. There are really only two things I can say to answer this question. 1) Never since I have been with this company have I received a two week check less than $2,000.00. 2) The more effort you put into this, the more you make, there is no cap on your income. We have had managers make over $8,000.00 in just two weeks. As far as the report that, "During the first training, the manager announces a competition. If the trainee pays $450, they can compete to sell $1500 worth of equipment. Apparently, the first trainee to hit the goal is awarded round-trip airline tickets. As for the losers? Well, their loss is $450." THIS IS A COMPLETE LIE!! At the first training class, trainees are taught how to sell the products. (this is necessary because as managers you are in charge of salesmen.) A certain amount of product has to be sold in order to get through your training. Our company runs contests at different times to reward people for their hard work and one of those rewards is round-trip airline tickets to a vacation destination. Every trainee that hits the goal gets the tickets, not just one. Also you don't have to pay any money to do the work that you have to do. That would just be complete insanity. If you want my honest oppinion, I think that every negitive report about employment with this company has come from the person that thought they would be able to get a job, not put any effort into it, and still make good money. These lazy people are now putting doubts in the minds of good poeple that are willing to work for a living. That to me is a crying shame. Hopefully I have been able to help you in some way as to understanding this company a little better. I know many of you will just think that because I work for the company I will say anything for it. If you knew me you wouldn't think that. Untill I came to Safety Enterprises, I ran my own business for almost ALL of my working life. If I didn't think this business was a ligit and profitable business, I WOULDN'T BE HERE. This is nothing more than the opportunity of a lifetime for people that would never be able to achieve a position like this. This is a 2 - 4 year degree position that we can train people for in 30 - 90 days. HOW MUCH WOULD THAT 2 - 4 YEAR DEGREE COST YOU?
