GMAC / Homecomings Mortgage Unfair credit reporting and late fee's, never LATE on mtg. of 5 years as soon as Govt took over Homecoming Mtg and became GMAC Waterloo, Iowa
Mid June 2009 got harrasing phone calls from Homecoming Creditor stating we were late on our June 2009 mtg. payment. We knew that was incorrect because it is an auto debit. We have never been late on this mortgage. Called them that day, turns out we had an equity shortage and the pymt. had increased but Homecomings/ GMAC had bothered letting us know that when it occured in April 2009.The rep. also indicated the harrasing phone calls are because they had been taken over by GMAC and the GOVERNMENT is making them do this!! They said we owed about $450.00 to make acct current and it would not go on our credit report if we paid by the end of June. We paid it right then! June 26th we get an emergency credit alert from FICO saying our credit score dropped 100 points because Homecomings/ GMAC mtg reported we paid our June payment late! (IT'S STILL JUNE!) Remember, we paid the fee's they asked for MID JUNE and it's STILL JUNE! I have received no response other than the emails I have in writing saying that we would not be reported if we paid the fees which we paid. The website never indicated when we signed on each month that we were late on anything and we NEVER recieved anything in the mail! They have RUINED our credit with unfair credit reporting! Amazing that hard working people who NEVER miss a HOUSE PAYMENT are reported by GOVT OWNED Mtg Company and they are bending over backward for those that can't or WON"T pay their mortgage! Thanks OBAMA!! Brilliant!

Credit repaired by GMAC after Rip Off Report posted

Our credit rating was restored by GMAC. Two days after posting the unfair credit reporting I was contacted by someone from GMAC in the "Executive" office. She thankfully was very concerned about the negative report on "Rip Off report. com" . I explained that earlier that am I was told by one of her companies customer service rep's that the false report of a late pymt on our mtg would be removed within " 30 Days!" I told her I would be happy to update this as resolved but that thirty days would not be soon enough! The late pay dropped our credit score 100 points during a time my credit would be checked by a future employer. She said she would make it happen ASAP, two weeks later we were notified the false late pay had been removed and our score restored. I wonder though...if I had not placed this concern with the BBB and "RipOff Report" would GMAC have cared? Their customer service reps sure were in no hurry! hmmm... I guess better than no response at all. I spent three days making calls and frustrated because of this whole situation.
