GMC does not stand behind their products. I own a 2010 GMC Acadia w...ith 85k on it. I have ALL my maintenance records for it and keep up on yearly maitenance as needed and recalls. Recently my check engine light came on and gave a code of P0008. I have two different opinions on this and both say it's the timing chain. With further investigation this is a known issue in this vehicle along with the 2008, 2009's and SOME 2010'S. Mine just happend to be the batch that GMC WOULDNT COVER UNDER THE "KNOWN ISSUE". IT'S KNOWN ON THE SERVICE BULLETIN AS WELL. Because my car is past the 5 year powertrain warranty, GMC refused to pay for it. AND HERE'S THE KICKER..MAKE NOTE OF THIS GMC OWNERS: THEY REFUSED TO COVER THE 4 GRAND COST I WAS QUOTED AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I DONT HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND THE GMC DEALERSHIP AND BECAUSE TECHNICALLY I AM NOT A GMC CUSTOMER BECAUSE I DIDNT BUY MY ACADIA BRAND NEW THREE YEARS AGO. THAT WAS THEIR EXCUSE! This is my second ACADIA, yes SECOND and LAST ACADIA I will ever buy. I will never buy another GMC product again. Sure they do. What you actually meant was, ‘GMC does not offer free service on out-of-warranty products.’
