This report is almost word for word the same as an earlier ripoff report filed by another member, my experience was almost exactly the same.

When traveling South on I-15 through Utah, if you exit I-70 at exit 112 to the Flying J beware of Goober's (Tire) Service. It is the tire shop on the west side of the parking lot by the RV diesel pumps.

On a recent trip I stopped for fuel and an employee told me of a tread separation on my 5th wheel trailer, he offered to put my trailer up on a jack so I could spin the tire and see the separation area. I checked and the tire had gone bad. I was told that the tires on my trailer were too light for the weight of my rig and I would continue to have problems unless I switched to a better tire. By now another employee had come out to help, and they offered to sell me four 14 ply tires at 389.95 each! That seemed like a terrible price but I was in the middle of nowhere and we were just starting our vacation so I bought them.

As they were replacing the tires they tried to tell me that the equilizer and shackles attaching the springs was wobbly, they showed me a Dexter Axle Eqilizer kit that was much heavier than stock equipment. When asked the price I was told $700 plus labor. Yes, $700 for two equilizers, 8 shackles, 16 bolts/nuts with grease fittings, and 8 shackles. I questioned the high price and was told, it was a better price than Camping World could do it for, which is not the case! I looked up the kit when I got to my destination, dexteraxle.com/inc/sdetail/1043/1050 listed the very kit they tried to sell me at a regular price of $162.82 Even with a 2 hour labor charge of $250.00 that still adds up to much less than Goober’s quote.

When I arrived home from our trip I did an internet search on Goober’s Service and found multiple complaints, several of them very similar to my experience. I also checked several reputable tire stores and found out I had been ripped off, I can get the exact same tire from Les Schwab for $207.29

I spoke by phone to the guy who had originally told me about the tire problem. He was a manager, but said he couldn't do anything about the price and told me to call his boss, Slade Smith and he would “make it right”. I spoke to Mr. Smith and told him I felt like they had taken advantage of me and from what I had been reading on the internet I believed Goober’s was ripping off travelers on a regular basis. When I told him that I wanted $400.00 dollars refunded to my credit card immediately he readily agreed to that, which makes me believe they know they are ripping people off because if only one in ten customers calls and complains and they have to give them a refund they are still making a killing on this scam!

THREE PIECES OF ADVICE for RV'ers traveling through Utah:

1) Check your axle mounting hardware

2) Make sure you are running heavy enough tires for your rig.

3) BEWARE OF GOOBER'S SERVICE IN BEAVER, UTAH!!!

The first paragraph should read:

When traveling South on I-15 through Utah, if you exit I-15 at exit 112 to the Flying J beware of Goober's (Tire) Service. It is the tire shop on the west side of the parking lot by the RV diesel pumps.

I had mistakenly typed I-70.
